A.I.M. 2: Clan Wars is a sequel of the famous first-person sci-fi RPG.
A huge game-world, full of freedom of movement and choice of activity type.
Over 30 types of gliders, including biomechanical ones.
A developed social system; trade, including in trophies obtained from destroyed enemies, fragments and resources.

description
The Reformation period had left its mark on the Range. The Mechmind world was altered. Many clans became extinct, their primitive goals and living standards dying with them. The wars conducted by Mechminds of the Fifth Generation had only one goal: total enemy desctruction to gain control over captured resources. Weak clans fell before the vicious enemy attacks. Only the strongest and best organized clans survivied the onslaught. Yet, none of the clans managed to achieve complete victory. Finally, a tenuous balance of power was set at the Range. Trying to gain an advantage, the clan of Reckoners started searching for the firstborn Mechmind of the Fifth Generation, an unrivalled warrior capable of confronting powerful enemies on its own. The Reckoners succeeded in their efforts. You are a part of the game again. You will plunge into this amazing world again. The Range awaits you.

Today Atari and 1C Company announced a distribution deal through which Atari will distribute and co-publish 1C's games in North America. 1C is a major publisher and distributor of computer games in Russia and Eastern and Central Europe.
While 1C primarily provides PC games like the IL-2 Sturmovik series, the deal applies to all consoles and handhelds, as well. Expect to see the first games from the two publishers released later this year.
"Developers in the Russian and Eastern Europe market are burgeoning with a slew of innovative and engaging games. 1C has demonstrated the special ability to source, develop and nurture these products," said Robert Stevenson, VP of Business Development and Third Party at Atari. "Leveraging our strength in software distribution and our relationship with 1C, we believe that we will offer our retail partners a wider array of products that appeal to the broad tastes of gamers in North America."
Early last year, in a last-ditch attempt to keep from going under, Atari sold off several studios and game franchises in an effort to refocus its creative efforts on external studios.

Just like the console wars, the graphics card wars can get really ugly, really fast ... and they're all about fast. NVIDIA's been trumpeting their GeForce 8800 (and now the more affordable 8-series cards as well) as the only DirectX 10 cards available. While true, without any DirectX 10 games to exploit those new features, it's a particularly hollow victory. DailyTech has gotten their delicate hands on a real life Radeon HD 2900 XT which they (of course) put in a head to head race to the death with NVIDIA's 640MB GeForce 8800 GTS. The blood-thirsty crowd screamed as the the newcomer proceeded to beat down the reigning champ -- the Radeon scored more eff-pee-esses in every single test they threw at it, including games like Call of Duty 2, Company of Heroes, F.E.A.R., Half Life 2: Episode 1 and Oblivion.
AMD is scheduled to release their DirectX 10 cards in mid-May in a range of models for every budget (except you, college students!). The ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT, tested here, has a suggested retailer price of $449.

Unless you've been hiding under a hobbit's prodigious belly for the last few months you'll no doubt be aware that Turbine's MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar has gone on general release today.
And on this, it's launch day, a new trailer has shuffled out. It takes us on a tour of Angmar, a nasty place that's home to all manner of evil beings that could probably rip your head off with a flick of a little finger. It looks pretty impressive too, with its massive stone structures sat between dark, gloomy mountains. Wonder what level you have to be to survive there...

US retailers sold USD 203 million worth of PC games in the first two months of 2007 - a 48 per cent year-on-year increase, according to an analyst for the NPD Group.
Speaking to the New York Times, NPD's Anita Frazier noted that sales in the same period last year reached only USD 136.8 million. These figures do not include online sales or subscription revenue, often cited as the major growth areas in the PC gaming market.
Frazier noted that the increasing popularity of role-playing games was a major factor in the rise. Sales of RPGs were 43 per cent higher than in the first two months of 2006. The release of World of Warcraft expansion The Burning Crusade in January 2007 is likely to have accounted for a great deal of these sales.
"The robust performance we’re seeing in PC game sales can be tied to several key titles across several genres,” said Frazier. “But we’d be remiss not to address the continued success of World of Warcraft."
NPD's research shows retail sales of PC games in the US kept steady at just under USD 1 billion annually in 2005 and 2006, after a 14 per cent drop from 2004 figures. This compares with 2006 console game sales of USD 4.8 billion and a handheld game market worth USD 1.7 billion.
The latest 2007 figures show a sharp reversal of this declining trend, although only time will tell if they are any more than a Burning Crusade-related blip.

Crysis senior game designer Bernd Diemer has said that co-operative multiplay and zero gravity modes will have to be added to the game by the modding community.
Crytek would loved to have added the content itself, he told Eurogamer.de in an interview, but it just didn't have time.
Instead, it seems as though its been improving the AI again. Apparently the game's so complex now that some enemy-brain fine-tuning was in order. Presumably so that you don't catch any of the nasties off-guard, randomly walking into a wall or talking to a tree.
And don't expect the aliens to be skinny little push-overs with the thinking power of a footballer, because they're as smart as the soldiers this time around (gosh), and will attack and manoeuvre in groups.
Diemer also wanted to say just how angry he was at the leaked footage from an old version of the game. It's not representative of where Crytek is with the game right now, apparently, so just you watch your step.

Lighthouse has revealed that a new expansion for Sword of the Stars is in development.
Born of Blood is due to be released in September and will add a host of content including a new alien race.
These Zuul will be able to enslave people to boost production on their fortress worlds, and will have access to more than 80 ship sections and Tunnel Drive FTL technology. Which sounds ominous. We think. FTL.
On top of that there'll be 15 new weapons to do the killing with and 25 new technologies to research. Those of you who like to talk will find the new diplomatic Data and Comm systems interesting, and brushed up AI should make for more engrossing gameplay.
There's also a swathe of nips and tucks across the board, as well as a couple of new scenarios and a handful of new galaxy types.
The expansion isn't a standalone product and will require the the original game to play.
Sword of the Stars was released late last year to average critical applause. It's a "4x" title set in space, which basically means it's similar to Civilization; based around exploration, expansion, exploitation and extermination.

As you'll know if you've ever been to New Zealand, where it's bigger than, you know, consequential sporting events, the America's Cup is one of sailing's biggest deals - and that's why it's bolted onto the front of "32nd America's Cup - The Game" - aka "Virtual Skipper 5".
Those curious as to the effect its introduction has had can now tuck into a 283MB PC demo, which allows single players to get used to the primary steerages as well as some of the race rules, and then try and win two playable regattas "on a sea surging with realism and intense competition".
The demo's available from WorthPlaying, FileFront and others, while the game is due out here on 11th May.

Turbine has revealed that June will see the release of the first free content update for its MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online.
Shores of Evendim, as the update is named, invites players to explores the land of Evendim and introduces 60-plus new quests, nine new monsters and collectible armour sets.
In addition, players will be able to raid in the Battle for Helegrod, with an upgraded in-game music system also featuring in the update.
Providing some background to the update and Evendim, Turbine explains, "About 100 miles north of the Shire, in northern Eriador, lies Evendim, a vast region dominated by the Lake Nenuial; the 'Lake of the Twilight'.
"On the southern shore, the ancient abandoned city of Annúminas -the former capital of the kingdom of Arnor is well known amongst the Free Peoples. For according to the Legends, amidst its ruins lay a great wealth and powerful artifacts now threatened by evil creatures and the nefarious forces lurking in Angmar."
It continues, "As the Fellowship prepares to leave Rivendell, Aragorn must re-forge Narsil, the Sword of Elendil. Gandalf has asked for help in Aragorn's search of the ancient lands of Evendim for an ancient jewel that once belonged in the sword's hilt. This powerful relic must be recovered before the Dark Lord Sauron finds it.
"Players are challenged to secure the valuables of the abandoned city, defy Angmar's encroaching grip on Annúminas and aid Aragorn in his quest to re-forge Narsil."

April 23rd, 2007, 18:25 Posted By: wraggster
Electronic Arts has finally spat out the tools needed to create multiplayer and skirmish maps in the recently-released third Command & Conquer.
Coming in the form of a 7.7MB download, the C&C Worldbuilder comes bundled with a 100-page instruction manual to help both new and experienced modders get up to scratch.
So why wasn't it bundled with the actual game then? EA explains: "We made various changes to previous versions of Worldbuilder during development of Command & Conquer 3, which needed to be documented."
"Furthermore, references to previous projects and old functionality needed to be removed both from the software and the documentation. As a result, we wished to take extra time to best prepare Worldbuilder for its intended audience"
For non-PC types Command & Conquer 3 arrives on Xbox 360 next month. More on that soon.

At an event in Japan this past week, Sega Japan revealed several new PC titles. Of the five revealed, three of them seem like good candidates for release in North America (with the other two being obscure soccer and baseball management sims), and they are Sega Splash! Golf, The Typing of the Dead II, and Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of Illuminus.
Sega Splash! Golf appears to be the company's answer to franchises like Hot Shots Golf or Super Swing Golf, with frequent appearances by various Sega characters and courses inspired by the Green Hill Zone in Sonic titles of old. It will also support multiplayer for up to 8 players at a time.
The Typing of the Dead II is, of course, the long-awaited follow-up to the PC and Dreamcast original, and will run on the House of the Dead III engine. In the game the player types words to quickly zap zombies, and this time out the game's difficulty will scale to the player's skill level. A two player mode has also been confirmed, although it's unknown if this will be online or not.
One title we know will be online is Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of Illuminus, Sega's pseudo-MMO that's almost certain to see a release here in North America given the success of previous installments. Console ports would also seem likely, but haven't been confirmed.
We'll let you know if any of these titles are confirmed for release outside of Japan.

ArenaNet is wanting to see more innovation in the MMORPG market and not just the release of "a bunch of World of Warcraft clones" in the genre in the future.
"One thing we do hope to see is that... people will be willing to go out and explore different business models and explore different designs", the developer's founder Jeff Strain told CVG in part two of a Guild Wars 2 interview set to hit the site tomorrow.
"We kind of hope that we won't continue to see a bunch of World of Warcraft clones or Ultima Online clones year after year", Strain explained.
In fact, he's hoping his own game will be a catalyst for innovation that ensures the MMORPG genre avoids a potential rut it could get stuck in.
"Hopefully, the success of Guild Wars, both in terms of its design and its business model, will inspire other companies to go take some chances and do some different things", Strain said.

For those budding football managers out there who have been patiently waiting years for a fully-featured management sim they could play online against their mates (forgetting the awful, broken failure that was 2001’s Sky Sports Football Manager), the long, hard wait is nearly over – with SEGA's Sports Interactive studio announcing today the future release of innovative MMO Football Manager Live, due Spring 2008 on PC and Mac.
That’s right, prepare to become addicted to a whole new football related thing on the Internet in 2008. Up to a thousand managers will be able to play against each other in a single game world.
SEGA's release just in informs us, “Football Manager Live has its roots set in the best-selling and award-winning Football Manager series, but has been designed specifically as a massively multiplayer online game….[it’s] a brand new concept in football management and allows you to build a club from scratch to compete against friends and rivals online for the ultimate in Football Manager bragging rights. It’s the definitive test of football management skills, allowing you to set-up mini-leagues amongst your friends, bid in player auctions and compete in live matches 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
Matches take place in real-time with managers being able to watch the on-screen 2D-match action while chopping and changing their tactics, plus the in-game chat option means managers can exchange comments (read: shout abuse at each other) on the virtual touchline, whilst other aspiring managers can view their competitors and learn their tactics.
Sports Interactive co-founder, Oliver Collyer came up with the original concept for the game, noting that, “With Football Manager Live, we're ripping up the script that says how online football management games should work…We're creating something that is fun, challenging and sociable.”
“Imagine a cross between Football Manager, fantasy sports and auctions sites and you are part of the way to understanding Football Manager Live” commented Miles Jacobson, Managing Director of Sports Interactive. “It’s great to be able to announce the game, and we can’t wait to see the reaction to the beta when it launches next month.”
So, it has all the makings of eBay meets myspace meets fantasy football - essentially more addictive than crack cocaine for any self respecting football fan.
Watch out later today for SPOnG’s detailed first preview of Football Manager Live from the launch event at Sports Interactive earlier this week.
