Mame the arcade emulator for windows has seen a new release, heres the release info:
Even if you’re still feeling burned from Singles’ Day, Thanksgiving, and/or Black Friday, MAME 0.192 is here, and there’s plenty packed into this update. At long last, the MCU for Ping Pong King is simulated, making the game playable, and Flower now runs better than it ever did. Taito’s abstract maze game Marine Date is also emulated better than ever, although there are still some issues with collision detection. We’ve got newly dumped prototypes, including a prototype of Battlecry, and a more complete version of Grudge Match that appears to come from a location test in Italy. Many of the Aristocrat MK5 gambling machines have been redumped so the ROM checksums pass and they boot. Missing graphics in the Merit Megatouch games have been fixed.
But we know that rumours about the next part of this announcement have made lots of arcade fans excited: IGS PGM2 software is showing signs of life. I’m sure at least some of you are wondering how this was achieved. Usual suspects Morten Shearman Kirkegaard and Peter Wilhelmsen (recently featured here in connection to their success in dumping Gaelco protection programs) have built another FPGA-based rig that allowed them to dump the internal programs from the ARM CPUs for Oriental Legend 2 and Knights of Valour 2 New Legend. On top of this, there are some nice performance improvements to MAME’s MPEG audio decoding that should benefit other systems as well.
In computer system emulation, we’ve got a number of graphical fixes for FM Towns, heaps of improvements for the Tatung Einstein, No-Slot Clock support for the Apple //e family, and support for some Brazilian CoCo clones from Prológica and Codimex. There are some big updates to the PC software lists, too. The ACI Destiny Prodigy, Mephisto RISC 1MB and Mephisto RISC II chess computers are now working. Finally, the Interpro drivers have numerous improvements, including preliminary keyboard/video support.

WinUAE v3.6.0 Beta 9 is released. WinUAE is the commodore amiga emulator for Windows. WinUAE is a mostly complete software emulation of the hardware of the Commodore Amiga 500/1000/2000. A Commodore Amiga, for those who don’t know, is a 16/32 bit computer system based on the Motorola 680×0 CPU and a few specially designed custom chips that provide very good graphics and sound capabilities. Its first incarnation, the A1000, appeared in 1985, followed by the highly successful A500 and A2000 models. WinUAE is a port of the originally written for Unixish systems UAE; but over time, it seems the Windows port, WinUAE has become the best version available on any platform. WinUAE is free software: you are welcome to distribute copies of it and/or modify it, under certain conditions. There is no warranty of any kind for UAE. Anyone whos old enough to know about Dos will know the fun of getting games working in it, heres a new version of DOSbox for PC:
DOSBox-X (2017/12/05) is released. DOSBox-x is a branch of DOSBox v0.74. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC, complete with sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, etc., necessary for running many old MS-DOS games that simply cannot be run on modern PCs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and FreeBSD.
DOSBox-X Changelog:
* Fixed OpenGL output crash when first starting DOSBox-X on Windows
* "Aspect Correction" menu item fixed on Windows. Selecting it now actually changes aspect ratio state.
* PC-98 EGC ROPs and bit shifter added. Not all ROPs, but enough for some games to run.
* PC-98 emulation of the GDC 2.5MHz/5MHz DIP switch. Some games require the GDC to run at 5MHz (and some refuse to run unless at 2.5MHz). For extra convenience not only is this setting in dosbox.conf but also available at runtime through PC98UTIL.COM from the Z:\ drive.

Heres a new version of the program thats used to make the like of MAME more simpler, heres the release notes:
Emu Loader v8.3.5 is released. Emu Loader was created to manage an arcade games emulator called M.A.M.E. With this frontend, you can change practically any option that is available in the emulator, like the screen resolution, sound quality, game options, etc. There are lots of extra features that makes your life much more easier, like the snapshots viewer where all captured images from M.A.M.E. games can be viewed when selecting games.

Heres a new verion of the multi arcade game supporting emulator, heres whats new:
FB Alpha SP v0.2.99.7 is released. FB Alpha or FBA as it is commonly known is an emulator of arcade games, that is, it takes the program code, graphics data, etc., from an original arcade game and emulates the hardware to make the game run in it's original form. As far as the game is concerned it is running in it's original cabinet.
FB Alpha is an open-source project and it is programmed by a group of people known as the FBA Team. Over the years this has comprised of myself, Jan_Klaassen, KEV, LoopMaster, Mike Haggar, Hyper Yagami and Ayeye. FB Alpha is based on the original FinalBurn by Dave.

Heres a release of a wrapper that supports the old voodoo graphics cards of yesteryear:
nGlide v2.00 is released. nGlide is a 3Dfx Voodoo Glide wrapper which means it 'emulates' 3Dfx Glide Library, so you don't need to have a 3Dfx Voodoo card to play games written for Glide API. Both versions of Glide API are supported, Glide2 (glide2x.dll) and Glide3 (glide3x.dll). nGlide translates all Glide callings to Direct3D, which is supported by almost all today's graphics cards.

Heres a new release of the MSX Emulator for Windows:
fMSX v5.2 is released. fMSX is a program that emulates MSX, MSX2, and MSX2+ 8bit home computers. It runs MSX/MSX2/MSX2+ software on many different platforms including Windows, Android, Symbian, MacOS, Unix, MSDOS, AmigaOS, etc. I started developing fMSX in 1993 when there were only two other MSX emulators available, both exclusively for MSDOS. From the very beginning, I developed fMSX as a portable program able to run on many different computers. The initial development, for example, was done on DEC Alpha workstations running Unix. Since then, fMSX has seen quite a lot of updates and been ported to many systems. It is still being developed, although not as actively as before because most features are pretty much complete now.

The open source version of Transport Tycoon Deluxe has been updated, heres the release notes:

Heres a new version of the Dos Emulator for Windows, replay the classic games of yesteryear:
DOSBox-X (2017/12/16) is released. DOSBox-x is a branch of DOSBox v0.74. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC, complete with sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, etc., necessary for running many old MS-DOS games that simply cannot be run on modern PCs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and FreeBSD.

Build configuration updated so that released binaries can run under Windows XP
SDL 2.x touchscreen vs guest pointer integration bugfix for Windows
SDL 1.x mouse event handling fixed to properly report mouse motion before button events, which fixes guest pointer integration
SDL 1.x rate-limit mouse motion detection on Windows to prevent random large jumps in your games. On Windows 10 SetCursorPos() no longer has an immediate effect which breaks the traditional mouse motion detector technique when the message pump is run too often.
Simple core now defers to normal core when paging is enabled, instead of auto-switching from simple core
Simple core fixed to range-check instruction pointer against system memory, to avoid segfaults when CS:IP is beyond available memory (such as, when DOSBox-X is beginning execution of the BIOS).

2 versions of DosBox in one day, we are being spoilt, heres the release info:
DOSBox ECE SVN r4067 is released. This is a Enhanced Community Edition. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC, complete with sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, etc., necessary for running many old MS-DOS games that simply cannot be run on modern PCs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and FreeBSD. However, it is not restricted to running only games. In theory, any MS-DOS or PC-DOS (referred to commonly as "DOS") application should run in DOSBox, but the emphasis has been on getting DOS games to run smoothly, which means that communication, networking and printer support are still in early development.
DOSBox ECE differs from normal DOSBox in these features:
* Emulation of a 3Dfx Vooodoo card through OpenGL (No external Glide wrapper needed!)
* 4x, 5x and 6x scaling in windowed mode is possible
* Pixel-perfect output mode for undistorted scaling of the picture

Its the release of another great emulator and this time its the emulator that trys to run windows on Linux systems, heres more info:
WineD3D v3.0 RC1 is relesaed. WineD3D For Windows is a DirectX 1-11 to OpenGL wrapper based on WineD3D, which is an almost full implementation of DirectX used in Wine. Even if Windows supports DirectX natively, using WineD3D can enhance backwards compatiblity with older games, especially on Windows 8 and newer that don't support 16 bit screen modes. Another possible use is to emulate unsupported versions of DirectX, or porting DirectX applications to OpenGL without having to rewrite the rendering code.

WinUAE v3.6.0 Beta 13 is released. WinUAE is the commodore amiga emulator for Windows. WinUAE is a mostly complete software emulation of the hardware of the Commodore Amiga 500/1000/2000. Heres a new version of the Apple II emulator for Windows:
AppleWin v1.26.3.6 is released. AppleWin (also known as Apple //e Emulator for Windows) is an open source software emulator for running Apple II programs in Microsoft Windows. AppleWin has support for most programs that could run either on the Apple II+ or the Apple IIe. By default, AppleWin emulates the Extended Keyboard IIe (better known as the Platinum IIe) with built-in 80-column text support, 128 kilobytes of RAM, two 5.25-inch floppy disk drives, a joystick, a serial card and 65C02 CPU. AppleWin supports lo-res, hi-res, and double hi-res graphics modes and can emulate both color and monochrome Apple II monitors; later versions of AppleWin also can emulate a television set used as a monitor. Both 40-column and 80-column text is supported.
AppleWin can emulate the Apple II joystick (using the PC's default controller), paddle controllers (using the computer mouse), and can also emulate the Apple II joystick using the PC keyboard. AppleWin can also use the PC speaker to emulate the Apple II's sound if no sound card is available (does not work under NT-based Windows versions). Full screen mode is available through the use of DirectX. Directories on the host that contain a file who's name is non-representable in the guest no longer cause directory enumeration to fail entirely, all representable files will show up

"Overlay" output removed, there's no point to having it
Added WinPCAP headers, which also enables NE2000 emulation for Windows builds if WinPCAP is installed.

A host driver called the QEMU accelerator (also known as KQEMU) is needed in this case. The virtualizer mode requires that both the host and guest machine use x86 compatible processors.

Visual PinMAME v3.0 is released. PinMAME emulates the hardware found in almost every solid state pinball machine created from the mid 1970's through 2014. Visual PinMAME is an emulation project which is based on the current PinMAME source code. If you're new to PinMAME, check out the included pinmame.txt file. Visual PinMAME is a Windows COM object which can be controlled by scripting languages such as Visual Basic Script. This allows other programs to 'control' Visual PinMAME.

Heres another new version of the DOS Emulator for WIndows, heres whats new:
DOSBox-X (2017/12/24) Christmas Eve is released. DOSBox-x is a branch of DOSBox v0.74. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC, complete with sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, etc., necessary for running many old MS-DOS games that simply cannot be run on modern PCs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and FreeBSD.
DOSBox-X Changelog:
IMGMOUNT now supports .HDI disk images. You can now directly mount most HDI images PC-98 games are distributed in to a drive letter.
Disk image support can now handle both IBM PC MBR and PC-98 IPL partition tables.
EMS page frame no longer strictly fixed to E000h. In PC-98 mode, the page frame is moved to D000h to avoid conflict with the EGC 4th bitplane at E000h.
UMB fixed not to overlap with EMS page frame, which should help with some crashes.
Windows builds now use a script to better automate these Windows releases.

OpenTTD v1.7.2 is released. OpenTTD is an open source simulation game based upon the popular Microprose game "Transport Tycoon Deluxe", written by Chris Sawyer. It attempts to mimic the original game as closely as possible while extending it with new features.

OpenTTD is modelled after the original Transport Tycoon game by Chris Sawyer and enhances the game experience dramatically. Many features were inspired by TTDPatch while others are original.

A late xmas pressie from the MAME team comes with a new release of the best arcade emulator on the planet, heres the release news:

It’s a bit late for Christmas, but MAME 0.193 is ready today. First of all, let’s get the disclaimers out of the way. We’ve switched to GCC 7 for Windows binaries, and started requiring SSE 2 (Pentium 4, Opteron, Athlon 64, or equivalent) for 32-bit Windows binaries. In the unlikely event that either of these changes causes issues for your use case, you’ll have to build from source. There’s currently an issue with overlay artwork not being displayed when using bgfx video output. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to address this in time for the release. As a workaround, we recommend using Direct3D or OpenGL video output for systems that use overlay artwork (this includes many handheld/tabletop games, Space Invaders, and the Vectrex console). You can track progress on this issue at MAME Testers.
And now, the stuff you’ve all been waiting for: the highlights. We’ve added support for a whole lot of Tiger handhelds based on licensed IP in this release, including the unmissable MC Hammer, Batman Forever, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Robocop 2. We’ve also added some of Tiger’s handheld renditions of popular games from other platforms, like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter II, Battletoads, and Space Harrier II. On the arcade side, newly working games include prototypes Calcune and In Your Face, a location test version of Teki Paki, PGM2 titles Oriental Legend 2 and Knights of Valour 2 New Legend, and a number of beatmania IIDX titles.
Computer fans don’t need to feel left out this Christmas, either. The Agat-7 floppy drive emulation has been improved to the point where it’s considered working, and the internal HP-9845 printer is now supported. If you’re at all interested in the FM Towns, you need to give this release a try, as r09 has made numerous improvements to sprites and scrolling, and greatly improved keyboard behaviour. There are also some big software list updates across a number of systems.

GroovyMame is a custom M.A.M.E. build mainly aimed at CRT monitors, as we are convinced CRT technology is a must when it comes to enjoying emulation in its full glory. However you can use GroovyMAME to alliviate some of the annoyances associated to emulation on LCD displays, specially for those models which are capable of refreshing at custom rates.

Heres a curious release of an app that has loads of games for consoles and more, heres the release news:
Pantheon v6.598 is released. Pantheon is Windows desktop application with collection of games for video consoles and home computers from the past. The games are not the part of the application, instead they will be downloaded (with the game manual or review - if available) from the internet, after you activate the game. Downloaded files are stored on the local file system and will be available offline the next time you wish to play the game. Finally, the program file is loaded into the memory and executed inside the emulator. Current version has emulator of Atari 2600 with collection of 170 games, emulator of Atari 5200 with collection of 50 games and emulator of Atari 8-bit computers with collection of 26 games.
Pantheon is still in development, new features and games are added almost every day. But you may experience occasional artifacts or crashes during the gameplay, and game snapshots may not be available in the following releases.

FB Alpha or FBA as it is commonly known is an emulator of arcade games, that is, it takes the program code, graphics data, etc., from an original arcade game and emulates the hardware to make the game run in it's original form. As far as the game is concerned it is running in it's original cabinet.
FB Alpha is an open-source project and it is programmed by a group of people known as the FBA Team. Over the years this has comprised of myself, Jan_Klaassen, KEV, LoopMaster, Mike Haggar, Hyper Yagami and Ayeye. FB Alpha is based on the original FinalBurn by Dave.

– fix resizing window to smaller than original image size in dx9 blitter with multipass effects

– add high performance version of overlay shader (used in combination with legacy gpu shaders)

– fixed sound not switching off when opening record input / save state dialog
– fixed clearing inputs (crashed when built with gcc)
– fixed version/info string generation with gcc
– updated documentation
