A blog entry by Games for Windows magazine editor Jeff Green is suggesting that Company of Heroes 2 will shortly be announced.
According to Green, the cover of the May issue of Games for Windows features "one of those exclusive stories" on a "followup to Relic's awesome Company of Heroes".
"Guess what?", Green continues, "We get to kill more Nazis again!! Yay! Them shitz never gets old, knowhumsayin?"
We're assuming that the game's going to be Company of Heroes 2, but Green's wording makes it a little ambiguous. It's definitely confirmation on a successor to Relic's RTS though, whatever it turns out to be.

The latest screenshots from forthcoming PC and Xbox 360 MMORPG Age of Conan released give an idea of the diverse environments developer Funcom has created for its game.
The developer says that it's "really proud of... the visual diversity that the development team has managed to deliver", and that, "This is particularly evident when looking at the different landscapes of Hyboria that is realized in this game, from the snow-capped mountains of Cimmeria to the burning deserts of Stygia. And everything in between!"
The four screenshots show the Cimmerian settlement of Broken Leg Glen, and a trade caravan running through Stygia.

Shiny Entertainment founder Dave Perry has revealed more details of the new massively multiplayer online title he is producing together with Acclaim and thousands of volunteers.
The game, which is so far known only as Top Secret, will be designed by and for gamers. As announced last month, Perry will reward the volunteer who makes the most significant contribution to the development process with the chance to direct their own fully-funded, Acclaim-published MMO.
Now the Top Secret forums are live and Perry has announced that more than 23,000 people have signed up to take part in the project. He has also disclosed that the MMO will be in the racing genre.
"It's really exciting to see over 23,000 people focused in one direction," he told GamesIndustry.biz.
"For our first project we'll make a racing game, simply because as a genre it really needs fresh new ideas. We're betting that with 23,000-plus developers we'll be so buried in new ideas, it's going to be tough to choose between them all - a nice problem to have."

But online games addicts damaging work, home and social lives
Internet computer gaming is potentially damaging for players' work, home and social life, a psychologist at the University of Bolton has shown in a study investigating levels of gaming addiction.
But a study refining criteria for the diagnosis of computer game addiction by Dr John Charlton, Research Fellow in Psychology in the School of Health, Psychology and Sport, shows that incidences of addiction could be 10% lower than some currently accepted classification schemes suggest.
Current research into internet-related addictions often classifies people as addicted by using symptoms that are also used in the diagnosis of gambling addiction. But Dr Charlton believes that some of these symptoms are not appropriate for dependencies such as multiplayer online game playing.
Said Dr Charlton:
'This is my second research project in this field to confirm this outcome; that several symptoms researchers had thought were important in diagnosing computing-related addictions were actually only indicative of high, but non-addictive, involvement. This means that taking them into account when conducting research gives an incorrect result - 10% higher than is correct.'
But for those who are hooked on multiplayer online games social problems can mount.
In an online survey of more than 400 gamers who were regularly playing a game called Asheron's Call, the research project discovered some players confessed their time online led to arguments at home and negatively affected their work and social life. On average they were spending 18.5 hours a week online playing. One player claimed to be spending 100 hours a week online. Among the criteria that Dr Charlton believes are important in classifying people as addicted, the survey showed:
more than 40% said their social life was suffering
30% recognised gaming was interfering with their work
40% said it was causing arguments at home
50% confessed they were not getting enough sleep
35% said they missed meals to carry on playing.
Dr Charlton and his study partner Ian Danforth of the Department of Psychology at Whitman College, Washington State, USA, say that their data supported the assumption that the playing of online games with at least a moderately high violent content is largely a male pass-time - 85% of the survey respondents were men.
Said Dr Charlton:
'Asheron's Call (which is now discontinued) was a multi-player online role-playing game, the sort of game which can be particularly addictive. The game involved players in a role-playing adventure which was unpredictable and offered opportunities for social reinforcement from other players, both elements which have been proven to add to a game's attraction.
'However, while our research suggests online gaming may not be as addictive as research has previously suggested, gaming addiction is a real issue for some people who find gaming seriously affecting their lives.'

Casual gaming hub Kongregate has opened its doors, inviting you to both upload and play creations from around the world.
The service has been designed to get developers and their audience together under one roof, exposing smaller independent projects to the masses. If your game finds wide appeal then you could be rewarded with sponsorship and advertising revenue from Kongregate itself. And despite the service being still in beta, there's some nifty bits and pieces here.
Community is a big feature of the site, and will give you points to reward your participation; tipping you for referring friends or rating a games, as well as dishing out larger earnings if you contribute your creation to the service.
These points are displayed in a classic leaderboard way, but you'll also be able to use them to invest in games using an upcoming stock market-style system. However, abuse it by rating stuff you haven't really played and you could have them revoked.
The games are obviously the main draw of the site, and there are currently more than 300 to test out. The best of the bunch so far is The Fancy Pants Adventures, which also happens to be the first title to sport a Kongregation Challenge.
Find the hidden trophies in the game and you could earn 25 points, as well as a Rumiko card for Kongregation's upcoming card-battling game in spring: "Think card-based, tag-team, rock-paper-scissors Street Fighter with +10 awesomeness," says the website.
You'll have to hurry though, this challenge ends in two days.

Registration for the closed PC multiplayer beta of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 will begin early next month, Ubisoft has revealed.
Successful registrants plucked for the beta will get access to the PC-exclusive Calavera map as well as the new Recon vs. Assault mode. This apparently has Ghost team members using technology to sneak through small winding roads while Mexican Rebels use all-out gunfire to win the battle.

Just months after the glitz and glamor of its inaugural debut on Wired's annual Vaporware awards, the long-delayed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. cozied up on retail shelves next to other evidently non-vaporous games. Yes, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a real boy now and it's more than a little exciting to see that the ambitious title made the journey from idea to interactive game more or less intact. Sure, the years in limbo didn't do much to help the once impressive engine, but reviews praise the title's innovative aspects -- namely the open-ended, and S.C.A.R.Y., gameplay.
Yahoo! (90/100) offers a poop metaphor that actually makes us want to play the game ... albeit alone ... and with a fresh pair of drawers nearby: "given all its troubles we're fortunate to have a game at all, let alone one this good. Its setting is superb, its gameplay tense and convincing, and it boasts what are definitely the best fill-your-pants moments in a PC game for quite some time. It's hard to see how it could have turned out better."
GameSpot (85/100) loves the open-endedness, and gives us the mash-up genre descriptor we've been waiting for: "At its heart, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a first-person survival game that blends action with role-playing. This isn't a linear game, like Half-Life or Call of Duty, where you basically are restricted to a straight path and are taken for a tightly controlled and scripted ride. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s huge environments and open-ended gameplay make it more like a role-playing game, as you can go where you want and do what you want if you're willing to live with the consequences."
Eurogamer (80/100) offers easily the most compelling review, despite its lower score: "For some people the odd rough brokenness of Stalker will frustrate and annoy. It isn't finely polished, and it's not Hollywood; this is more like an antidote to the Americanised way of doing things. It's a warped behemoth from the Ukraine, and one of the scariest games on the PC."
Sold! We've been hungry for a first-person shooter that requires mandatory underwear changes as part of its design; System Shock 2 was so long ago, and Bioshock is delayed. We want this sort of experience..

The Western market for MMO games will be worth USD 1.5 billion by 2011, with Europe set to benefit the most from a booming market, according to new research from Screen Digest.
Over the next five years, Germany will see the largest growth in subscriptions, followed by the UK.
The market for massively multiplayer online games in the West broke the USD 1 billion milestone in 2006, according to the research firm.
The company found that subscriptions in the North American market were worth USD 576 million, while European subscriptions reached USD 299 million.
The research also notes that as well as subscriptions, social networking and casual gaming sites are bringing in more revenue for the MMO market, as they begin to adopt practices found in MMO gaming business models.
"During the past few years the western landscape for MMO games has become increasingly fragmented following the introduction of new genres of games including social networking, virtual pet rearing and virtual world building titles," said Piers Harding-Rolls, author of the Screen Digest report.
"These new games and platforms have bought with them many new gamers and also new business models that are generating revenue that is largely incremental to the incumbent subscription business."

Casual online adventure Mythos has entered into public alpha testing today, giving you a chance to jump into the action and see what you think.
The game's being developed by Flagship Studios, which is famously made up of brain-boxes that worked on action role-playing game Diablo back in the day, and is due for release later this year.
It's an action MMORPG where you'll be able to play as Elves, Gremlins or Humans, and explore randomised dungeons in an isometric point-and-click style affair. And while grouping is the core-concept, those of you who like to go solo can do just that, using a wealth of skills to win yourself gold, gems, armour and weapons.
"For Mythos, we started with the revolutionary style of gameplay we pioneered in the Diablo franchise," said Phil Shenk, creative director on Mythos and co-founder of Flagship Studios. "Then, by offering it free to download and play, we made it even more accessible to players."
"By designing the Mythos world from the ground-up to be an ever-changing place, we can quickly and seamlessly implement new ideas from a variety of inspirations. Through the continued support of the Flagship community, we are striving to create what will be one of the most innovative role-playing games of recent years."
Flagship is also the force behind Hellgate: London, which we recently learned would include a MMO-style multiplayer mode. Interestingly, it seems the technology powering Mythos will form a strong basis for the game when it launches later this year.

A new demo for Red Ocean surfaced this morning, giving you the chance to try out Collision Studios' underwater shooter.
The demo lets you explore the full game's third level, diving around the terrorist-occupied underwater station where work on a giant centrifuge takes place.
Red Ocean centres around the brilliantly named Jack Hard, whose tourist diving trip soon lands him in the middle of a global conspiracy. In a mixture of fast-paced diving sequences set in claustrophobic and volatile sub-sea environments, you'll have to uncover a terrorist plot to change the world forever.
The game is due for release on PC in the third quarter of this year, which is autumn to you and me.

Crytek and EA plan to release both a single-player and multiplayer demo of Crysis shortly before the hotly anticipated FPS releases, fansite InCrysis is reporting.
In addition, it's stated that the shooter will be out in Q3 2007 - so between July and September - however EA was unavailable to confirm this at the time of writing.
Plus, plans for a beta multiplayer test have been reaffirmed. We broke news about the multiplayer beta test back in January.
We'll keep bashing our hotline to EA to get confirmation on the Q3 release window.

3D Realms' Scott Miller has described the topsy-turvy development of long-awaited sequel Duke Nukem Forever as being "an industry joke", in an interview with website YouGamers.com.
Speaking candidly about the videogame famous for its protracted development time, Miller said 3DR fully admits it screwed up development of the game, revealing, "I laugh (and cry) when I think about it, too".
He explained, "Our fault is that we set the bar too high, and we tried too hard to make the game to beat all games. In the last 18 months we've taken a much more realistic look at the project, we've hired a truckload of experienced help, and I personally believe we are now on the right track...finally."
"DNF will succeed or fail not because of the Duke brand, but solely based on whether the game is great, or not", Miller added.
3D Realms doesn't want to let fans down with anything less than perfection, he continued, "However, perfection is not possible - that's the biggest lesson we've learned."

Information on Guild Wars 2 has appeared in the forums of website Guild Wars Guru, gleaned from the May issue of PC Gamer (US) which has extensive coverage on ArenaNet's MMOG series.
The lengthy post reveals considerable amounts, including the fact that ArenaNet is ditching the campaign format of Guild Wars for the sequel and that, as previously reported, a Guild Wars 2 beta is expected to begin in 2008.
It's mentioned the sequel will be set "Hundreds of years later, in Tyria", and that what are termed "radical" changes to be implement in GW2 include an "overhauled environment and character control system, redefined PvP play and retooled NPC companion system."
Four new playable races are to be introduced - Sylvari, Asuras, Charr and Norn - and there'll still be no monthly fee to pay.
According to the post, Guild Wars players won't be able to transfer characters over to Guild Wars 2, but ArenaNet is letting adventurers "carry achievements forward" via a Hall of Monuments which it's said are "built via quests in Eye of the North and is only available in this chapter".
Eye of the North will be the final Guild Wars campaign to be released, due at the end of the year. Eye of the North's storyline will act as a bridge between Guild Wars 1 and the full sequel.
