New version of the PC-Engine emulator for Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
- The access processing of CD-ROM was considerably sped up. I think that it came to be able to perform CDDA (CD sound source) and ADPCM voice well even in a personal computer environment so not fast. As a result, the size of the buffer of CDDA is made 512 fixation, and the tone quality of CDDA has been improved.
- "Install(CD speed-up)" menu was added to "CD-ROM" menu. The CD-ROM access is sped up by installing the "data track" part of CD-ROM.
- The ["Replay"Previous Hu-CARD Game] button was added to the start screen. ("R" key of the keyboard is also the same.)
- "Recent" menu was added. It is possible to play quickly by selecting it from among the Hu-CARD game that played recently. (It is possible to execute it also with "R" key of the keyboard.)
- "CD Change(NoReset)" menu was added to "CD-ROM" menu. Use it in "CD Battle Hikari no Yuushatachi" and "Music CD player built into System Card", etc.
- Interrupt processing was modeled on a real machine more. "Cosmic Fantasy 4 Totsunyuu hen" and "Gotzendiener" came to operate. In "Janshin Densetsu", the status screen came to be displayed correctly. I think that it approached a real machine by the operation timing as for other some software.
- The memory access processing was modeled on a real machine. In "Double Dragon II", The animated cartoon display became correct, and sound shifted was solved.
- In "Double Dragon II", ADPCM voice immediately after the start was accurately sounded.
- The forwarding of ADPCM data was modeled on a real machine. In "Popful Mail", vocal timing has improved.
- At the setting "Turbo Cycle (CPU of PC Engine is sped up)" the load has been decreased.
-* Some(about 100) the game name recognized with CD-ROM were changed. If you cannot load "saving file of the old version", each one must change "file name of the saving file". *The new file name can be confirmed by saving once.
- Additionally, a lot of detailed parts have been improved and corrected.

Computers with wireless internet should not be placed on children's laps, says the head of the government's committee on mobile phone safety research.
Professor Lawrie Challis told the Daily Telegraph children using wi-fi networks should be monitored until research into potential health risks is completed.
He says children should keep a safe distance from the embedded antennas.
The Health Protection Agency has said wi-fi devices are of very low power - much lower than mobile phones.
Prof Challis, retired professor of physics at the University of Nottingham, said: "With a desktop computer, the transmitter will be in the tower.
"This might be perhaps 20cms from your leg and the exposure would then be around one per cent of that from a mobile phone.
"However, if you put a laptop straight on your lap and are using wi-fi, you could be around two centimetres from the transmitter, and receiving comparable exposure to that from a mobile phone."
'Bigger problem'
Prof Challis added that children are much more sensitive than adults to dangers such as pollutants like lead and UV radiation.
"So if there should be a problem with mobiles, then it may be a bigger problem for children.
"Since we advise that children should be discouraged from using mobile phones, we should also discourage children from placing their laptop on their lap when they are using wi-fi.
Meanwhile, teachers have called for an investigation into whether there are any health risks from wireless computer networks in schools.
The Professional Association of Teachers union is writing to the education secretary for a clarification on wi-fi safety.
Many primary and secondary schools use wi-fi networks - but the PAT believes there is insufficient long-term evidence to demonstrate whether such networks are safe.
Any Coments?

New information emerging on forthcoming PC RTS-RPG hybrid Stranger has revealed that the game's storyline revolves around three main heroes fighting to "save their immortal souls and overcome their destiny." Sounds epic. A latest splurge of screenshots has also been released.
Anyway, the three heroes are Kagar, Steiger and Mordlock, different characters that players will control throughout the adventure that boast unique abilities. They share the same destiny, apparently, Stranger developer Fireglow explaining that three have wrongfully been expelled from their home world "for the use of magic" and "find themselves teleported to a strange and hostile land, full of fearsome monsters and relics so powerful to tear armies to pieces."
"Having been enemies in the world they come from," the dev further explains, "all of them know that the key to survival is to stick together and fight side by side and combine their abilities if they ever want to make their way back home and take revenge on those who expelled them..."
Stranger is due out next month and combines RPG and RTS gameplay in a swords and sorcery

Bethesda is hoping a release a Shivering Isles patch next Monday that will resolve the Form ID bug present in the expansion.
The bug was linked to object IDs and caused newly created objects in the game world to disappear.
A beta patch addressing this issue for PC has already been released, but what Bethesda hopes to release Monday is the full-fat version, for both PC and Xbox 360.
A Bethesda community manager described Monday as the developer's "target date" in a post on official forums. "...so hopefully all will go well in preparation for uploading these", they said.

Blizzard has confirmed it will be making a product announcement in May in a response to rumours that StarCraft 2 will be unveiled at its Worldwide Invitational event in Seoul, South Korea next month.
A spokesperson for the developer told Kotaku, "We do intend to announce a new product at the Worldwide Invitational next month in Korea, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in getting an advance look at what that will be, but players will have to wait until May 19th to find out more".
The spokesperson went on to say that Blizzard does plan on revisiting the StarCraft universe "at some point in the future" - like, big surprise - "but we don't have anything new to announce in that regard at present."
So will it be StarCraft 2 announced next month? A new expansion for World of Warcraft? Diablo 3? We could speculate till the cows come home.
Blizzard's parent company Vivendi had nothing further to add when contacted about the May announcement earlier.

April 27th, 2007, 17:14 Posted By: wraggster
Believe it or not, but ten years ago today a group of huddled journalists excitedly scribbled in their notepads after hearing the first news of 3D Realms' Duke Nukem Forever... and we're still waiting to get our hands on it today.
The first iteration of Forever ran on the then-cutting edge Quake II engine and the debut screenshots in November issue of PC Gamer looked far above anything else around in terms of visual quality. Speaking in that issue of PCG, Scott Miller said that the game would be released in 1998.
The first trailer (which you can watch here) was unveiled at E3 1998 and showed the first in-game footage of Duke Forever. However, the following month 3D Realms announced that it would be porting the shooter sequel over to Epic's Unreal engine, and reassured fans that the transition from Quake to Unreal would take only "a month to 6 weeks" and Forever would be released the following year in 1999.
...then in 1999 3D Realms backtracked, announcing that it would be upgrading to the newer version of Unreal Engine, and released a Christmas card suggesting that Duke Nukem Forever was now set for the year 2000.
Almost a year later publisher Gathering of Developers announced that it would be taking over publishing duties for Forever, and 3D Realms released another Christmas card suggesting it would finally release in 2001.
At E3 2001 a second Duke Nukem Forever trailer was released (see it here), revealing a few minutes of new gameplay footage including impressive game features such as destructible environments, advanced AI, weather effects and massive draw distance. The trailer, amazingly, still looks quite good today.
But it was never to see the light of day. Gathering of Developers closed down in August 2001, Take Two took over publishing duties and Duke Nukem Forever was once again thrown into limbo.
In 2002, 3D Realms went back to the drawing board, hiring an army of new programmers and scrapping over 95% of the previous level design work in the process. The new engine was built using parts of Unreal Engine 2, with everything else written from scratch by the Nukem developer.
In early 2003 Take Two CEO Jeffrey Lapin stated that Duke Nukem Forever would not be released that year. Duke creator George Broussard responded by telling Shacknews that "Take Two needs to STFU imo". Later that year Jeffrey Lapin said that 3D Realms told him DNF was now expected late 2004 or early 2005.
After denying claims that DNF was now running on the Doom 3 engine, in 2006 Broussard gave an update on the games development stating that the team was finally tweaking and polishing the game.
In June 2006, a filing revealed that Take Two was offering a $500,000 bonus if 3D Realms released Duke Nukem Forever by December 31, 2006. Broussard denied the rumours, saying that he would "never ship a game early...for 500K."
Earlier this year a brand new in-game screenshot emerged alongside a 3D Realms job ad... and we're still waiting for more solid updates on DNF's development.
Will Duke Nukem Forever ever get released? Well 3D Realms is still working on it, and we can only keep our fingers crossed that we see it sooner rather than later.

The latest issue of PC Zone has named Deux Ex the best PC game of all time, topping the list of the magazine's 101 favourite PC games.
An intensely grateful Warren Spector, game designer, had plenty to say about the award. "First, let me say what an honour it is to have been associated with the development of Deus Ex - to see it named the 'best game ever' is pretty incredible," he began.
"Perhaps the most amazing thing was that the game got made at all," he said. "I first thought about a game like DX back in 1995, when I was still an Executive Producer at Origin, which was owned by EA," he revealed, "but I could never get the project off the ground at Origin or, later, at Looking Glass. (I think it was lack of interest at Origin/EA and it was mostly a lack of money at LG!)." We think that was a mistake, clearly.
The game eventually got underway at Ion Storm but it wasn't all plain sailing: "Down in Austin, we had a team of incredibly talented people, many of whom didn't get along at ALL," he explained.
But it came together in the end, and Spector finished up with gushing words of gratitude. "Thanks to PC Zone for recognizing Deus Ex as a great game, but my deepest thanks go to the team that made it possible."
So if you haven't played Deus Ex, pick up a copy now. You can snag pre-owned copies for pennies nowadays.

One of 2007's most hotly anticipated MMORPGs has become one of 2008's most hotly anticipated MMORPGs - Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is delayed.
EA Mythic's Mark Jacobs has revealed the game will now release in Q1 2008 in the US and Europe. It was originally expected later this year.
"Since our acquisition by EA, we have been afforded many wonderful development opportunities and we plan to take full advantage of everything that is available. This includes taking several additional months to make the best MMORPG possible", Jacobs said in a Warhammer Online newsletter.
He went to reveal how the development team has gone back and reworked certain parts of the game too after reviewing work more or less completed, describing the results of this revisit as "nothing short of spectacular".
He explained, "By extending our development time, we'll be able to do these in-depth reviews several times prior to launch to ensure all areas of WAR benefit from the experience of ongoing development".
Jacobs said at the end of the newsletter, "This change to our ship date is probably not the news you were hoping to hear. In the end, we'll be able to reward your patience with a truly next-generation MMORPG that will make GW proud, all of us at EA thrilled and most importantly, you, the players, as happy as a Black Orc in battle. We only get one chance at a successful launch, and we plan to catapult this one over the walls of Altdorf."

Flagship Studios Seattle, a satellite of Bill Roper's outfit Flagship Studios, has released new screenshots from Mythos along with word that the alpha testing stage for the game has ended and beta is being eyed.
Mythos is an MMO action-RPG that'll be free to download and play, plunging players into the fantasy world of Uld where they assume to roles of heroes traversing the land. Adventuring, questing and combat occur in completely randomised dungeons and environments, dungeons being instanced and suitable for both solo and group play.
And it's going to be free. Or did we mention that already?
"Mythos presents a constantly expanding, continuously updated world where something new lurks around every corner", Flagship Studios Seattle explains.
The game's due out his year, presumably later rather than sooner. Looks fun.

Developer Telltale Games has been in the press a lot for its revival of the Sam & Max series, but before that it developed an episodic adventure series based on the hugely successful Bone comic books by Jeff Smith.
However, with all efforts focussing on Sam & Max you'd be forgiven for thinking Telltale had given up on Bone - but that's not the case.
"We've been really focused on Sam & Max and nailing the episodic model. This has helped the company better understand digital distribution, and we're in a great position to take advantage of the Bone license, but our teams are very busy right now. As the company grows we will revisit Bone", the developer told 1UP.
So, good news for Bone fans, although when we'll see another Bone game from Telltale, who knows?
For anyone unaware, Telltale's existing Bone saga is an episodic series of point-and-click adventures that focus on cousins Fone Bone, Phoney Bone and Smiley Bone and their, ah, adventures that kick off when they find themselves in a mysterious valley after being run out of their hometown of Boneville.

press release:
Issue 5 of PCGZine features winning line up of exclusive Lord of the Rings Online review, Quake Wars preview and World in Conflict interview
GamerZines is pleased to announce the availability of its best issue of PCGZine yet. Issue 5 of the free digital magazine for PC gamers includes exclusive coverage of three of the hottest PC games of 2007.
Eagerly awaited for years, The Lord of the Rings Online finally allows gamers to step into a living, breathing Middle Earth and play alongside other gamers in real time. Tolkien's classic fantasy has been the inspiration for more RPG elements than almost any other source, so a game that can be true to the original books has been the grail for many gamers. With expectations so high, can the game live up to the hype? PCGZine has been playing the game for months and coinciding with the release of the game, it now delivers the definitive review. Find out if it is truly one MMO to rule them all, or if it fails to WoW.
Not standing in the Shadow of Angmar is Quake Wars, another game that has the cognoscenti biting their finger nails in anticipation. Developer Splash Damage has been honing the game for months and PCGZine gets access to play the game and see how it is coming along. Quake is one of the biggest franchises in PC gaming, so expect fireworks.
Third up in the trilogy of Triple A games covered this issue is World in Conflict, the biggest game to date for developer Massive Entertainment. PCGZine talks exclusively to the president of Massive, Martin Walfisz, about this, literally, ground-breaking RTS. "Seeing your artillery, or air strikes, completely destroying the whole place in a cascade of explosions, smoke and debris is really cool," says Martin. The interview finds out how their idea of mixing Counter-Strike-type game play with the strategy genre is set to deliver a truly unique PC game this Autumn.
PCGZine is a GamerZine, published for free in PDF format. Readers simply require a copy of the free Adobe Reader (version 6 or above) to read the magazines. Each GamerZine includes more than 30 pages of professionally written games journalism and is enhanced with embedded video, multimedia and interactive elements.
PCGZine issue 5 can be downloaded now from: http://www.gamerzines.com/

Ubisoft has blown the lid off a sixth game in it's The Settlers series, The Settlers: Rise of an Empire which is due to release in September.
So... it's back to the medieval era in a sim-strategy that finds players dealing with the daily lives of settlers, gathering resources, dabbling with economics and building an empire. Ubisoft explains that the primary objective in Rise of an Empire is "to create large, lively medieval towns", and through empire expansion you can aspire to ascend to the throne of the kingdom. Or something.
Anyway, features from previous instalments in the series that have proved popular have been retained for this sixth game, the wants and needs of series fans also influencing the content of the sequel. "The result" says Ubisoft, "is a realistic medieval world, captured in intricate detail. The game features an immersive, yet transparent economic system based on the resources, wares and goods produced by the settlers in their various trades and occupations."

Crytek boss Cevat Yerli has promised that its hotly anticipated first-person shooter Crysis will feature major shocks and scares in addition to the glorious action we've all drooled over.
And where will the brown-trouser moments come from? Our encounters with the alien menace invading Earth, that's where.
We've seen a fair amount of alien vehicles and machines, and we're guessing we got a very brief glimpse of the actual aliens themselves in a recent Crysis trailer that got leaked, which EA subsequently removed from the 'net - but according to Yerli we won't see the aliens properly "until you play", assuring that "the first time you see them you'll shit your pants!"
He told PC Zone, "Imagine the last good horror game you played. This is going to be like that, but every time you'll play it'll be different".
Yerli also revealed in the interview that initially Crysis was "a bit longer" than it is now. "Making the game longer would have been no problem, but in order to have consistently high quality the game had to be condensed. It's a very, very busy game with intense and pulsating gameplay."

Sword Of The New World's a Korean-developed MMORPG that's launching over here this summer after being picked up for a West release by publisher K2 Network. A new two-minute trailer released combines cinematic footage with in-game action showing the game off before your eyeballs.
Sword Of The New World's fictional story is modelled on Europe's venture to and exploration of the New World, and the game brings something a little unusual to the MMORPG genre via the ability to control three characters simultaneously. Questing, exploration and combat are all part of the experience, obviously.

Faithful to the Warhammer license, Warhammer: Mark of Chaos puts the focus squarely on the battlefield with a real-time combat system that gives the player unprecedented customization and control of his army. An epic battle rages following a brutal Chaos invasion, where four fully playable armies (Empire, Chaos, Skaven, and High Elves) as well as additional controllable races (Orcs, Dwarfs, Vampires, and Goblins) clash on a massive battlefield.
Over a year has passed since the Great War, during which the brutal Chaos armies swept across the Empire lands. Many fierce battles still rage across the Old World.
Portions of the defeated Chaos armies have retreated to the distant Northern Wastes, while others have fallen to hostile groups. Among these tribes, new Champions rise up in an effort to reunite the Chaos forces, yet eventually all fail. None can match the power of their fallen leader, Asavar Kul.
The united Empire and High Elf forces hunt the Chaos hordes from the Empire territories, still alert because danger lurks around them in the form of smaller enemy warbands that loot the settlements of the border lands.
Now, four powerful armies Empire, Chaos, Skaven and High Elves along with other "dogs of war" including Orcs, Dwarfs, Vampires and Goblins, clash amidst breathtaking scenery in an epic battle for land and power.
