Blizzard has confirmed it will be making a product announcement in May in a response to rumours that StarCraft 2 will be unveiled at its Worldwide Invitational event in Seoul, South Korea next month.
A spokesperson for the developer told Kotaku, "We do intend to announce a new product at the Worldwide Invitational next month in Korea, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in getting an advance look at what that will be, but players will have to wait until May 19th to find out more".
The spokesperson went on to say that Blizzard does plan on revisiting the StarCraft universe "at some point in the future" - like, big surprise - "but we don't have anything new to announce in that regard at present."
So will it be StarCraft 2 announced next month? A new expansion for World of Warcraft? Diablo 3? We could speculate till the cows come home.
Blizzard's parent company Vivendi had nothing further to add when contacted about the May announcement earlier.
