Ubisoft has released a brand new multiplayer demo for the PC version of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.
The official website has a list of places you can download it, and it weighs in at just over a gigabyte.
The demo lets you try out the PC-exclusive map Calavera in one of two modes - Recon vs. Assault and Team Deathmatch. The first of these lets you either creep around the alleys of Mexico as a highly trained Ghost, or just run around blasting as a seemingly brainless rebel. Naturally there's no bias in the portrayals. Get bored of that and you can organise yourselves into teams and duke it out with your army-talking chums.
PC owners waiting for the tactical squad-based shooter will be treated to a map editor, new multiplayer mode and a "more tactical" experience, apparently. And a closed mulitplayer beta-test has already been and gone, too, so everything should be in working order when the game's released on 29th June.
The Xbox 360 version of the game was released earlier in the year and received a hearty pat on the back from Eurogamer. It wasn't hugely dissimilar to the first instalment, although it was more polished and probably represented a better overall experience.

Codemasters has thrown up an Overlord PC demo, and it's left a nasty stain all over their website. This one, which is where you can download it, unless you're too lazy, and prefer direct links (1.06GB).
Like its Xbox 360 colleague, released last week, the PC demo lets you throw on the clanky armour of an Overlord and order your minions around The Mellow Hills, gathering life-force from unwilling sheep, and perhaps giving your rabble a few pumpkin helmets as payment. There's also a showdown with a Guard Troll, to which you'll doubtless look forward.
The full game has been confirmed for PC and Xbox 360 release on 29th June, and is much as it sounds - a game about bossing your way through a fantasy land. If the demo isn't enough to keep you interested until then, why not read our enthusiastic hands-on preview, or play around with the "Desktop Minion e-toy" Codies has tossed into the Downloads section of its official website. That's what we'd do. If we didn't have jobs, anyway.
You can download the 1.06GB demo now directly from here.

A Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 demo that's been released allows you to dip a toe into the tactical shooter's multiplayer component.
The demo, which you can download via the official GRAW website, features a single map and two multiplayer modes - Recon vs. Assault and Team Deathmatch.
We recently got hands-on with GRAW 2 PC single-player and it proved itself a tough-knuckled tactical first-person shooter. While it uses the same storyline as the title on Xbox 360, there's a very different game wrapped around the plot core.

New update of the PC-Engine emulator for Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
Changelog:
- The CPU(HuC6280) processing part, Sound processing part, and Sprite&BG character processing part was sped up. I think that processing lightened in some measure of a personal computer environment so not fast.
- In some games ("Bloody Wolf" and "Power League 3", etc.), the bug with not correct display order of the screen (generated from v1.03) was corrected.
- To play comfortably, the CD-ROM seek setting of default was made "Fast Seek" mode.
* If you loaded the state of an old version, "Fast Seek" returns OFF. In that case, please put the check in the "Speed->Fast Seek" menu by hand power. Then, I think that can play comfortably.
- The processing of ADPCM voice was modeled on the movement of a real machine more. In the latter half of "Top wo Nerae vol.1" came to operate.
- In "Tengai Makyou - Fuuun Kabuki Den", the display order of the character became correct.
- In game that has changed resolution of each line, the operation was modeled on a real machine more.
- Additionally, a detailed part has been improved and corrected.

The balance in the galaxy has been restored as trans-galactic corporations have been deported to the outskirts of the galaxy and deprived of their power.
The Empire, just as before, continues to fight against the Aliens. As a rule armadas of battleships aren't used in such conflicts. Small maneuverable squadrons that can attack and retreat quickly are better suited for this type of war. This means that the famous Star Wolves team is back in action!

The PC version of Tomb Raider Anniversary is no longer available to European users of Valve's digital download service, Steam, GamesIndustry.biz reports - with Eidos yet to explain why it has been withdrawn.
US consumers can still buy TRA for USD 29.99 (GBP 15) via Steam, and the game is prominently advertised on SteamPowered.com. However, at the final stage of the purchasing process European users receive the message, "Sorry, but Tomb Raider: Anniversary (ROW) is not available for purchase in this country. Your purchase has been cancelled."
It is still possible to buy TRA as a digital download by visiting official site TombRaider.com or the Eidos Interactive website. From there, buyers are taken to a payment page on a site owned by online distributor Bluefish Media, where they can purchase the game for GBP 29.99.
Bluefish was purchased by Eidos in March in a deal worth EUR 3 million.
Eidos has yet to respond to requests for comment.

Game Domain International wants you to sign-up to beta test its new gaming portal.
Dubbed A World Of My Own, it's essentially a games on demand service within a persistent online world. A bit like a cross between Metaboli and Second Life. It's also strikingly similar to PlayStation Home.
You get to make a virtual avatar to live in this universe, where you can interact with other people and buy things like new clothes and items. You'll then go to different in-game areas that are themed to represent the type of game genre you're about to play - fantasy for fantasy, for instance. You won't have to wait for the whole thing to download, either, as it uses fancy software to install a hub so you can begin playing almost immediately.
It's built on the same Hero engine that BioWare is using for its MMO, and GDI promises there'll be the latest big games and various niche titles included. It also gives the publisher the chance to correlate server-wide tournaments and promotions, as well as pump adverts out at you.
For the 30,000 lucky beta applicants more than 50 games will be available to play for absolutely free. However, when the full version kicks off later this year there will be a subscription fee attached to it. This will be billed according to how much you use the service, so the more you play the more you pay. Although GDI was unavailable to tell us exactly how much that will be.
As an extra incentive, you early starters can become "island elders", get special introductory offers and custom items to show you were there before everyone else.
Head over to the website to sign-up, or pop into our A World Of My Own gallery for the latest screenshots.

Codemasters has said that both Xbox 360 and PC versions of Overlord will be out in the US on 26th June - the expectation being that the European version will follow a few days later on 29th June, although Codemasters hasn't confirmed that just yet.
The news coincides with the release of a demo for the PC, available on the Codemasters website, giving you a chance to wreak havoc on the tranquil area of Mellow Hills with your minion horde. Potentially, anyway - we can't find the demo ourselves. Hrm.
Update: Word from Codies UK is that the US jumped the gun a bit. No demo yet. The Xbox 360 version will apparently now arrive before the PC one - in the next few days - and the US press release announcing its release today was sent in error.
Overlord has been created by Triumph Studios to let the evil in all of us reign. There simply is no goody two-shoes option, and the aim of the game is to spread your wrath throughout a fantasy world using your horde of impish minions.
It's devilishly fun, as we recently found out, and is clearly one to keep an eye on.

Blizzard is planning to dole out beta keys at its upcoming BlizzCon event in California. Beta keys! Woo!
Unfortunately, we have no idea what the beta keys are for. Blizzard simply says it will be "for an upcoming Blizzard game". DIABLO 3 CONFIRMED ZOMG.
Upcoming Blizzard games include StarCraft 2 and, er, nothing else we know about. Perhaps it will end up being a World of Warcraft expansion, given the setting.
Either way, attendees are promised additional swag to be announced soon, and in the meantime you can admire the murloc suit freebie.
BlizzCon takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim on 3rd and 4th August. You can uncover more details on the official website.

EA has released a themed expansion pack for The Sims 2 with branding from clothes empire H&M, GamesIndustry.biz is reporting.
The Fashion Stuff pack allows users to create their own clobber for in-game avatars, sample the stores' real-world garb and design their own shop-floor environment.
"Marrying a fashion-forward company with a game and community recognised around the world for its user-generated content will allow people to reflect their personalities and express their creativity," beamed Steve Seabolt, vice president of brand development at EA.
"This brings new and exciting game content from two trusted brands that share the same global footprint and customer profile."
Users will be able to enter their clothing designs into a competition, with the most popular chosen to be broadcast in online fashion shows.
"We're very excited that H&M is the first brand to enter this way into The Sims world," commented Jörgen Andersson, head of marketing at H&M.
"For us the Stuff pack is a fun opportunity to meet our customers and to show parts of our summer collection. The Sims players are known for their creativity, self-expression and cleverness - we are excited to see the participants' designs for the virtual fashion runaway."

Codemasters Online Gaming has sent us a fat little Hobbit spouting news that Book 9: Shores of Evendim will be available on 14th June.
This is the first of many free content updates for The Lord of the Rings Online, which will add various fantastical bits and pieces to the game. There's the brand new area of Evendim, for starters, which was roughly 100 miles north of The Shire last time we checked. Although it's been a while.
Here you can gaze out over the enormous Lake Nenuial, or help forgetful Aragorn reclaim a lost jewel in the ancient city of Annúminas. Over 100 quests are waiting for you to sink your teeth into, including a 24 person raid encounter on the Misty Mountains where Thorog the dragon awaits.
On top of all this, budding composers can now revel in a notation system to compose tunes offline then upload them to their characters in game. Bound to impress. There's also seven new sets of epic armour to swan around in, each flaunting progressively better bonuses the more pieces you collect.

Starting today, humans, elves, dwarves and trolls can join the cross-platform revolution with Shadowrun at the estimated retail price of $59.99 (U.S.) for Xbox 360 and $49.99 (U.S.) for Windows Vista. Shadowrun is rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB). Shadowrun is also part of the Games for Windows initiative, offering reliability, compatibility and enhanced experiences on Windows Vista.
Additionally, Xbox 360 gamers can get in on the action with the official “Shadowrun” demo on June 6. The demo will be available for download via Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
The innovative first-person shooter (FPS) gameplay of “Shadowrun,” developed by FASA Studio, thrusts gamers into strategic battles that utilize magic and technology. Players must vie for supremacy, playing as a human, elf, dwarf or troll. Cleverness, cunning and split-second improvisation are rewarded through a unique combination of modern weapons, ancient magic and advanced technology. As the first game to support Microsoft’s Games for Windows – LIVE service, “Shadowrun” gives players on both Xbox 360 and Windows Vista a chance to compete, cooperate and communicate across both platforms with an Xbox LIVE Gold or Games for Windows - LIVE Gold account.
“Shadowrun” will ship with nine unique maps and an additional three map variations, showcasing dynamic environments set in a futuristic Santos, Brazil, and its neighboring ancient Ziggurat. “Shadowrun” includes six training chapters, letting gamers fine-tune their strategy and lethal combinations against the intuitively smart and talented A.I. bots. Gamers can also play with bots at four levels of difficulty on every map and with every game type.
