Commodore Gaming and Play.com have entered into an agreement that will see the Jersey-based online retailer be the first to sell the CommodoreG gaming PC.
The arrangement means that Play.com will have a one month lead on other retailers for the GBP 999.99 set-up, which features an Intel Core 2 quad processor and 2GB of RAM.
Play.com's spokesperson, Stuart Rowe, commented that the deal was "indicative of our continued growth and presence in the games market," while Commodore CEO Bala Keilman stated that site has "the right audience focus to match the product positioning."
The machine will also come bundled with 50 classic Commodore titles, as well as a five-game pack including Tomb Raider Anniversary.

Newly released at Play Asia
Welcome to the erotic world of Jewel Knights - Crusaders, a hilarious parody of Japan's famous "Sentai" (battle team) anime and live-action television!
You are Ginji, a Japanese youth whose two hobbies are girls and getting into fights. One night, while walking in a dark alley, he comes across three beautiful females wearing bizarre outfits battling monsters from another dimension. Against his better judgement, he gets involved in the battle, and before he knows it, he's flat on his back. Waking up in the hospital, he's surprised to see one of the girls there: she'd brought him to the hospital after he was injured.
The girl introduces herself as Yuki Meno, and tells Ginji an interesting secret: with her two friends Ruri and Hisui, she is a member of a group dedicated to defending peace and justice, called the Jewel Knights, which fights the evil organization Ragnarokkr. What a surprising turn of events!
Ginji isn't really interested in battling evil -- he'd much rather try to get into the pants of Yuki, Ruri and Hisui. The three then learn something interesting: Shinji's incessant sexual come-ons act as "power ups" for the three heroines, allowing them to increase their skills. They could use someone like him on the Jewel Knights, but he'll only join the group on one condition -- that the girls let him use their bodies for sex. Who will win out, Ginji or the Jewel Knights? Of course, while they don't want to be used like that, but they're secretly happy that Ginji is going to be fighting evil with them after all...
Game System: "Jewel Knight Crusaders" is a command selection adventure game for Windows computers, for adults. The game utilizes a multi-ending system, where the stories unfold and change according to command selections. Everything is entirely up to you. The game has been translated faithfully into English, and all graphics are 100% uncensored, allowing you to enjoy the erotic CG without mosaic or other censorship of any kind. Features a full "auto forwarding mode" mode as well, for hands-free play. Enjoy yourself as you explore this rich and complex hentai game! New price on this closeout item!

It's been a great few months for Nvidia, according to financial results posted yesterday for its second fiscal quarter.
Revenue was up 36 per cent year on year to a record USD 935.3 million, while profit doubled to USD 172.2 million.
Jen-Hsun Huang, president and CEO of Nvidia, was delighted with the results. "Our ongoing strategy to extend the reach of the GPU is paying off."
"There is a fast-growing universe of applications that rely on the processing capability of the GPU [which] can surely enhance the computing experience for everyone, from artists, engineers, and scientists, to gamers and everyday PC users."
The company also announced that its stock was splitting three-for-two, meaning that shareholders will receive an additional share for every two they currently hold.
Following the stock split Nvidia will have around 550 million shares outstanding, the company said.

Funcom and Eidos' upcoming PC MMO Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures has been delayed until March of next year.
"After careful consideration, and analysis of recent Beta feedback, we believe that the new release date is in the best interest of the gamers, our company and our owners," commented Trond Arne Aas, Funcom CEO.
"We are fully committed to delivering games with absolute qualities, and in the current MMO marketplace we know that only the best is good enough to truly succeed.
"With the new release date we have therefore given ourselves more time to meet and deliver on the massive expectations for the game," he said. Producer/director Gaute Godager added that the added development team would allow the team to "deliver something even more unique and powerful."

The UK's first Omega Sektor opens its doors today in Birmingham, following a successful launch event last night attended by media, publishers, hardware manufacturers and consumers.
The venue hosts over 400 custom-built gaming PCs within 22,000 square foot. Spread over two floors, the centre also features an internet cafe, movie area and room dedicated to Xbox 360 gaming.
Sponsors Activision, THQ and Square Enix all have their own dedicated gaming areas, with a host of high-spec gaming PCs running the likes of Call of Duty, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl and Final Fantasy XI.
And with three big publishers on board, marketing boss Adrian Le Mans revealed to GamesIndustry.biz that more publishers are keen to sign up just as soon as they can be accommodated.
"Publisher are really passionate about this whole experience that we're delivering and there were more publishers and sponsors that wanted to be involved than we could actually service at this point," he said.
"The biggest problem is actually having enough space to fit them all in. We wanted to make sure that we had games that are different across the centre, and now we've got a bit of a queue of who we're going to work with after this.”
Although the business is new to the UK, the Birmingham venue is actually the twenty fifth Omega Sektor to open, and Le Mans is confident that a successful marketing campaign will help put the centre at the forefront of social gaming.
"We've got a huge marketing campaign that will work at every level. We're working on a PR and advertising level but really what this is about is getting people through the door and letting them play. That's the way to get the message across."
The company has two mobile Omega Sektors kitted out with PCs and ready to tour universities, festivals, concerts and city centres throughout the UK, while those visiting the centre today and tomorrow can take advantage of the games offering free of charge.
The centre will charge consumers a flat rate of GBP 5 for three hours, although Le Mans promises multiple promotional activities for the future to entice customers through the door.
And with Intel and Microsoft already on board, he's confident that the Sony and Nintendo will soon become part of the furniture.
"This centre is about everyone at every level, and that means clients as well as consumers. We will have all platforms available for everyone to play.
"It's about social gaming and interacting with other people. It's really about what the market wants and we'll deliver that," said Le Mans.

Sony Online Entertainment has teamed up with Virgin Comics to create a new massively-multiplayer online role-playing game.
It will be based on the popular Ramayan 3392 AD comic, which in turn takes its inspiration from an ancient Indian poem called the Ramayana.
This story written in Epic Sanskrit around 4th to 2nd Century BC has developed to become part of Hinduism. Those of that religion believe main character Rama is an incarnation of the deity Vishnu, and that his journey is a demonstration of the righteous path all should follow.
Science-fiction reinterpretation Ramayan 3392 AD isn't quite as revered, but is still applauded for its take on Indian lore, and what it represents for Indian youths across the world. Events take place in a post-apocalyptic world here, where Rama battles with his brothers to take down the demon-lord Ravan.
"In a world increasingly dominated with games influenced by a western Tolkien mythos, Ramayan will offer gamers a chance to experience a whole new universe of characters and archetypes derived from one of the oldest cultures on Earth," said Sharad Devarajan, big cheese at Virgin Comics.
"Our mission at Virgin Comics has always been to allow this generation of Indian youth to have a creative platform through which to speak to the world. Through this collaboration with the likeminded visionaries at SOE, our young Indian creators will make gaming history worldwide."
Sir Richard Branson's comic squad will be helping Sony Online Entertainment create the game for PC, although dates and details are yet to be divulged.
You'll know more when we do, though. Karma permits we tell you.

German PC specialist Kalypso Media has opened a UK office and appointed former Codemasters VP of Northern Europe Jonathan Hales as its managing director.
The publisher focuses on mid-price PC games with distribution and development duties outsourced to keep costs low.
"I'm delighted and excited to be setting up Kalypso Media UK, which promises to be challenging, but extremely rewarding also," commented Hales.
"My aim is to set strong foundations for the company and to develop relationships with partners in the UK and around the world from which growth will become organic. We want to be self reliant and offer a win-win business model for all our partners."
The publisher plans a series of offices in other key territories, all run as independent outfits.
The company's first batch of titles includes Hollywood Pictures 2, Star Assault and Universal Boxing Manager, all due next month.

North American start-up GameRail, which claims to improve online game connection speeds for hardcore PC gamers, hopes to expand into consoles and introduce its concept to Europe.
"[Our approach is] immediately going to be able to transition to the console market," a senior spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz at QuakeCon.
"However, unlike on PC, with consoles you have to work with Sony, with Microsoft, and put together a partnership. We're open to that, we're open to working with them. That's the next step."
And while the company is grounded in the US for now, it eventually hopes to go worldwide. "We have eyes on reaching other markets, particularly Europe," the spokesperson told us, adding that GameRail had already peered with some Asian companies.
In layman's terms, GameRail works by skipping a lot of unnecessary steps that traffic over the Internet has to hurdle on its path between end user and game server.
The firm's business development VP John Alden told us that GameRail can improve latency - the amount of time that elapses between somebody firing a gun in Counter-Strike, for example, and that action being reflected in the online game - by between 20 and 70 percent.
"We had one guy in Dallas whose traffic was being routed through Chicago. That just doesn't make any sense," Alden explained. "We sidestep that with a fibre network."
GameRail announced pricing - USD 11.99 per month - at QuakeCon in Dallas last weekend and is offering gamers a 30-day free trial.
While some consumers have taken issue with the idea of paying extra on top of their monthly Internet Service Provider cost in order to guarantee service that they feel their ISP should be offering anyway, GameRail insists that it is merely filling a void rather than taking advantage.

Technically minded, eagle eyed mutant creatures from the land of blogging have spotted that Apple's latest revision of iMac hardware introduces a pair of graphics cards capable of supporting DirectX 10.
Apple's not exactly banging its drum about this, naturally, but the inclusion of ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT and 2600 PRO graphics cards depending on the model you opt for does mean that those of you who intend to run Windows Vista using Boot Camp will be able to take advantage of DX10 functions in games like Crysis.
The full range of specs for the new iMacs can be pored over on Apple's website. Models featuring the DX10-compliant graphics cards are priced between GBP 799 and GBP 1459 on the UK Apple store.
One game that will support the Mac natively, of course, is id Software's Rage, unveiled on Friday. Indeed, John Carmack said the game wouldn't use DX10 features because, in his words, "There's nothing there that I'm dying to get my hands on." Suit yourself.

Codemasters Online Gaming has announced it will be dishing out action MMO Fury across Europe in October.
It follows the closed beta weekend for the game in early July, which evidently attracted the attention of the Lord of the Rings Online publisher.
Fury is a massively multiplayer online game being created by Australian developer Auran, and will try to blend role-playing and action shooter elements into one. You won't be levelling tirelessly here, or chasing the virtual carrot on the end of a stick forever. Instead, you will be battling other people playing the game. Quickly and frantically.
The key to success in this fast-paced player versus player combat will be your combination and deployment of special abilities, with a heavy emphasis on player skill rather than player statistics. If you best your foe, you will increase in rank, and more ability slots and options will open to you.
More than 400 abilities are said to be in the full game, to help define your ludicrously over-the-top martial arts style. And for those of you with an equipment hankering, there will be plenty to collect. Couple it with eye-pleasing visuals from the Unreal Engine 3, and you can see why Codemasters is interested.
"We are pleased to announce our latest partnership with Auran to bring the long awaited Fury to Europe," said David Solari, big cheese at Codemasters Online Gaming. "We believe this unique and groundbreaking product will appeal to MMO and action shooter gamers alike. It's going to drive forward the online persistent market with Fury's new style of free to play, instant online action."

Modders, you'd better watch your backs, because NEC and Hitachi are creeping up from the backside with some funky-fresh new hard drive cooling technology that will make you feel embarrassed and / or insignificant. The two Japanese powerhouses have developed a technology which knocks down the temperature of standard hard drives using a water-cooled plating, and also reduces noise levels of the storage devices to five decibels quieter than a whisper. The new technique employs noise absorbing, heat conducting plates which surround the drive, and a low-speed radiator fan to keep air moving. The companies say that the material used for the housing is the most efficient ever for conduction of heat, and that the drives are cooled more quickly and with less power. PCs will soon be made available with the drives (at least in Japan) for around ¥20,000 more than standard models -- no word on when or if this technology is coming Stateside.

EA has tagged Hellgate: London with an official release date of October 31 in North America and November 2 for Europe.
Hellgate: London is the long awaited title from ex-Blizzard man Bill Roper's new outfit, Flagship studios. It's being billed as the next leap as far as action RPGs go, don't you know?
"We wanted to hit the sweet-spot for release in terms of the development schedule and delivering the highest-quality game to our players," said Roper. "Halloween was the perfect fit as it ensures that Hellgate: London will have an appropriate amount of beta testing, while also being an incredibly fun time to unleash the game."
You could also argue that it's the perfect time for launch because it scoops the release of Crysis by just over a week. That said, both games are coming from the publishing stable of EA though.

It isn't all World of Warcraft at BlizzCon this year. That little sequel they're making to StarCraft has gotten quite a bit of attention as well. Gamespot has a liveblog transcript of a StarCraft II demo. This one, unlike the last, focuses on the Terrans rather than the Protoss. Several new units and build options are described, along with a bit about the single-player campaign. The campaign is the focus of Kotaku's game coverage, starring Jim Raynor and the crew of the Hyperion.
"Part of the campaign in StarCraft II will be focused on Raynor's efforts to make money but taking jobs like this one, missions that ultimately tie into a larger plot. As you earn money, those funds will be put into purchasing technology--upgrades for units and units themselves. Pardo purchased (read: unlocked) the Viking ship for his next mission. This has been done to give players control over the tech progression of the game, instead of following a locked down set of upgrades. Hiking back up to the bridge, Raynor checks out the Star Map. This is where you'll choose your missions. They're much more open ended than in the previous StarCraft campaigns. You'll be able to pick the planet or system you want to tackle next, progressing the story in your own way. Mission briefings provide the summary, objectives, bonus objectives, mission bounty, and recommended technology, so you'll have to choose which best suits your current needs and matches your current level of tech."

Crytek's beautiful sci-fi shooter Crysis will release for PC on November 16th, publisher EA has confirmed.
The game has become a benchmark for those looking to upgrade PC hardware ("Will it play Crysis?") and leads the way in terms of full DX10 support. Demand for the title is very high, and news of a definite 2007 release will delight those looking for that next gen PC experience in time for Christmas.
A new trailer was released last night in celebration of the release date, bringing Hollywood styling - Marlboro VO and all - to what is sure to be one of the most talked about games of the year. See here.
The announcement will greatly relieve PC gamers, especially given that Crytek has constantly been coy on a date throughout the game's development, telling Eurogamer at CES in January that it'll be finished "as soon as possible. We're hoping this year, but we're not making any commitments or promises at this time."
Much, much more soon. Expect a full showing of the game at this month's Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany.

The second Public Beta release of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is now available for download following its debut at QuakeCon. Fileplanet's hosting the 768MB file and inviting people to sign up for keys. Up to 20,000 are available, and keys for the first release still work.
Beta 2 introduces a new map - Valley - as well as offline bot-matches, Punkbuster and LAN support and leaderboards. You can read much more about the individual changes, how Valley works and all that on developer Splash Damage's community blog, which also thanks everyone for feedback (positive and negative!) that, it says, has generated "significant improvements".
It's certainly proving popular at QuakeCon, with virtually everyone we've been talking to claiming they've downloaded it, even giving it preference over the games they brought with them. A tournament featuring a few well-practised clans competing on Valley and two other maps, Ark and Area 22, has also helped generate buzz.
And if you fancy a go, you shouldn't be short of a few people to play against, with Splash Damage's Paul Wedgwood telling us that around 38,000 of the 60,000 Public Beta keys were actually used the first time around.
Be sure to bang on about what you think about it in the comments here and on Splash Damage's blog, too, because they promise they're listening.
