Won't someone please ? The Sims 4 has been given an 18+ rating in Russia, due to content deemed "harmful" to children. The news was first tweeted by the official Russian Sims account, which later clarified that the rating was given to the game in accordance with Russian law 436-FZ, "On Protection of Children from Information Harmful to Their Health and Development."
Official Sims sources have not revealed specifically what content came into conflict with the law, which penalizes information "encouraging children to commit acts that endanger their lives," information that would instill a "desire to use narcotics, psychotropic and (or) intoxicants, tobacco, alcohol and alcohol-containing products," information "justifying illegal behavior," information that contains pornographic imagery and information that promotes "unconventional sexual relationships," among a lengthy list of other offenses.
Whatever the offending content, think twice before calling someone who playsThe Sims 4 names; clearly this game is pretty hardcore.

The ‘world’s only’ 8GB edition of AMD’s flagship 290X graphics card has gone on sale.
The Sapphire R9 290X Vapor-X OC features 8192MB of GDDR5 video memory running at 5600MHz, a 1060MHz core speed, 2816 stream processors and a 512-bit memory interface.
The memory capacity doubles the 290X’s original 4GB provision and additionally tops that of AMD rival Nvidia’s Titan Black card, which runs on 6GB of VRAM.
The 290X 8GB is said by retailer Overclockers UK, which currently has the exclusive rights to the product, to be “perfect for a 4K setup”.
The card includes two dual-link DVI connetions, a HDMI output and a DisplayPort. At least 600W of power supply is required, as well as eight-pin and six-pin cables for power.
The ‘Vapor-X’ moniker refers to the trio of fans sat on top of the card, which employ a choke design claimed by Sapphire to improve power efficiency by 25 per cent.
The card also includes the custom card firm’s ‘Intelligent Fan Control’, which means only one fan will operate when the card is under low workload.
The Sapphire R9 290X Vapor-X OC 8GB is available now for £600.

The first monitor to include Nvidia’s G-Sync technology as standard is due to hit UK shelves in the next few weeks.
The AOC g2460Pg is said by AOC to be the first monitor to integrate Nvidia’s long-touted G-Sync technology into its design, rather than requiring a retrofitted kit.
Demonstrating the technology to PCR (see below for a video), AOC said that the £359 24-inch display was due to arrive “within the next two to three weeks”, and will debut at PCR’s Boot Camp event on May 21st.
Nvidia G-Sync synchronises display refresh rates to the render rate of a GPU in a computer powered by an Nvidia GeForce GX graphics card that supports the technology.
This synchronisation should eliminate screen tearing and reduce display stutter and input lag, making gameplay smoother overall for gamers.
The announcement comes as distributor VIP Computers announced its intention to "lead the market on G-Sync and 4K", becoming the first UK distributor to stock the Palit 6GB GTX 780 Jetstream graphics card, which is designed to support G-Sync and 4K displays.
“Nvidia G-Sync monitors are a game-changer, the likes of which cannot be found anywhere else,” said Matt Wright, consumer sales manager of Northern European distribution at Nvidia.
“Pro e-sport players and pro-gaming leagues are lining up to use G-Sync; it exposes a player’s true skill, demanding greater reflexes thanks to unnoticeable delay between on-screen actions and keyboard commands.
“Once you’ve used a G-Sync monitor in conjunction with a fast GeForce GTX GPU, you’ll never want to use a ‘normal’ monitor again.”
Nvidia recently announced its Q1 2015 financial results, revealing that net income for the graphics specialist had risen by 75 per cent from the previous year, hitting $137 million (£81m). GeForce GTX GPUs for both desktops and notebooks grew by 57 per cent.

An upgraded PC version of the classic console RPG Final Fantasy 3 is coming soon to Steam, publisher Square Enix announced today.
Originally released for the 8-bit Famicom in 1990, Final Fantasy 3 expanded on series traditions with the introduction of a player-driven job system, which would define later games like Final Fantasy 5 and Final Fantasy Tactics. An enhanced version premiered for the Nintendo DS in 2006, and a later iOS portserves as the basis for Square Enix's upcoming Steam release.
The Steam version of Final Fantasy 3 is priced at $15.99, and includes unlockable Steam Trading Cards and Achievements. A release date has not been announced.

The PC games sector may be dominant worldwide, but consoles are the real power in the UK and will remain so for years to come, says DFC Intelligence.
The analysts revealed last week that on a global scale, PC gaming revenue had overtaken the console market. But whilst that might be true across mainland Europe and emerging markets, home consoles are still king amongst Brits. In fact, the console space is worth over double that of the PC games market.
“The statement is absolutely not true for the UK where console gaming is still dominant by a large margin. Console gaming is over twice as much revenue as PC gaming,” DFC boss David Cole told MCV.
Both PS4 and Xbox One remain in the early-stages of their life cycle, with consumers continuing to pick up the new machines as more games are released. And Cole says the gap between console and PC gaming in the UK is only going to widen.
“In the next few years we will continue to see console gaming dominating in the UK and actually increasing that dominance.”
PC’s worldwide dominances is due to markets such as Russia and Hungary where demand for PC gaming massively outpaces consoles.
Furthermore, the cost-effective gaming café culture in Asian markets like Taiwan has fuelled the figures behind digital PC titles such as League of Legends and Dota 2.
“The PC is a fairly universal item that is used for work and education but also as a way to play all kinds of games, while console systems are a luxury item used mainly for entertainment,” added Cole.
“Well to do markets like the UK and US can afford luxury items like video game console systems. However, much of the world can not afford such a luxury so the PC becomes the de facto game system.”

Epic Games is known for a lot of things, the Gears of War game franchise and development tool Unreal Engine prime among them. But old-school game fans might know Epic Games for another classic franchise: Unreal Tournament. The long-dormant series is making its return starting today! Sort of. Epic announced this afternoon that the next Unreal Tournament game begins development starting today with "a small team of UT veterans" focused on development for Windows, Mac and Linux. The entire development is open source, which Epic characterizes as, "a collaboration between Epic, UT fans and UE4 developers." As that line infers, the game's being created using Unreal Engine 4. Best of all? When the game's ready to play, it will be free. As Epic puts it: "Not free to play, just free."

A patent filed by Microsoft has revealed a possible future smartwatch design for the firm.
The wearable tech is shown to have a focus on fitness tracking, with features including distance tracking, heart rate monitoring and a calories burnt counter.
The device is described as being abled to be removed from its wristband, meaning additional bands and devices can then be used to house the tracker, as well as allowing the fitness-centric module to be plugged into workout machines to continue monitoring.
The patent also details a wireless charging dock that will accompany the device.
Microsoft’s rumoured development in the space joins the multiple firms which have been increasing their investment in wearable technology such as smartwatches over the last year, including LG, Google/Motorola, Pebble and even musician Will.i.am.

As most people will have heard, Microsoft will end support for anyone who hasn't upgraded to Win8.1 Update 1 on May 8. What fewer people have heard is that large numbers of users can't install the 8.1 Update, with over a thousand messages in this one thread alone, and that's for tech geeks rather than home users who won't find out about this until their PC becomes orphaned on May 8. Check your Windows Update log, if you've got a "Failed" entry next to KB2919355 then your PC will also become orphaned after May 8

One of the biggest concerns with Chrome OS is the fact that much of the platform relies on an internet connection to actually do what they're supposed to do. Fortunately, Google's aware of this and is working on it, one feature at a time. Today, the software giant announced that the Play Movies Chrome app will support offline movies and TV shows in the next several weeks. This feature has already been available on Android devices, so it's nice to see it expand into theChrome OS sphere, along with continued manufacturer hardware support for the platform.

Dark Souls II has bumped DayZ off its presumed throne on this week's Steam top sellers chart, grabbing the top spot in its second week out from launch.
DayZ didn't fall far, still selling enough copies during the period to take the runner-up position. A Star Wars series sale has its 2014 franchise collection in third, while a major discount to Steam Early Access title Prison Architect boosted it onto the list and into fourth place.
Watch Dogs pre-orders stayed strong, with the title finishing in fifth; while other list regulars – including Rust, Counter-Strike, and Space Engineers – kept busy making up the second half of the top ten.
Here's the full list:
- Dark Souls II
- DayZ
- Star Wars Collection - 2014
- Prison Architect
- Watch Dogs
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
- Space Engineers
- Rust
- Skyrim - Legendary Edition
- Arma 3

While Blizzard today is best known for its crafts - Warcraft, StarCraft,DemonKillerCraft Diablo - once upon a time it also was a studio represented by three vikings who explored a colorful, albeit dangerous, world. Now, those vikings have come home. The Lost Vikings, Rock 'n Roll Racing and Blackthorneare all available right now via Blizzard's Battle.net service, and they're all free of charge.
For those unfamiliar, The Lost Vikings is a sidescrolling platformer featuring three vikings: Erik, Olaf and Baleog. A single player can control all three vikings, though only one at a time. Blackthorne is another 2D platformer, though its tone is far darker and tells the tale of an exiled king returning to his home planet, using a pump-action shotgun to fight off monsters. Rock 'n Roll Racingturns the art of racing into a bloodsport, giving players access to weapons such as missiles and land mines as they race around a dystopian landscape.
To access these games, you'll need to log into your Battle.net account and navigate to the "Download Game Clients" page. There, underneath all the clients for games you own, you'll find the trio of treasures just waiting for your loving embrace. Unfortunately, BlizzPro reports that the version of Rock 'n Roll Racing lacks the game's famous music selection, and includes only three tracks.

PC-only gamers haven't been able to enjoy Dynasty Warrior 8's hectic, definitely-true-to-history battles between ancient Chinese kingdoms, but Tecmo Koei is about to fix that. The publisher is bringing Omega Force's DW8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition to Steam on May 13 in North America and Europe.
The Complete Edition bundles the base game of DW8 with its Xtreme Legendsexpansion, which adds new characters, story episodes, weapons and enhancements to the Ambition, Challenge and Free modes.
Complete Edition's minimum requirements call for at least Windows Vista, with 512 MB of RAM, a VRAM 256MB video card and an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.4 GHz (or Intel Core i7 860) rounding out base requirements. Support for gamepads will also be present, as will be support for DirectX 9.0c.

Life as a roguelike protagonist must be bleak - being born into adulthood without experiencing birthday parties, fighting increasingly brutal waves of enemies until their lone-warrior efforts are finally stomped out of existence ... it can't really be fulfilling. Maybe you can spare your Hero from the same fleeting fate in Vertical Drop Heroes HD, a randomly-generated roguelike due for PC and Mac on May 20.
Players will have 20 traits, 15 abilities and powers and 16 weapons to arm Heroes with, but anyone overwhelmed by Vertical Drop Heroes' mounting challenge can rope in a teammate via split screen or network-based co-op. What are you fighting for beyond a few more minutes of life for your Hero? The related press release teases the "truth behind the game," which conveniently lays beyond conquering the final boss.
Vertical Drop Heroes will cost $5 when it arrives on Good Old Games, Humble Store and Green Man Gaming. It's also currently up for vote on Steam Greenlight.

PC ownersneed fairly burly systems to play Wolfenstein: The New Order the way it was meant to be played, according to Bethesda. The publisher detailed system requirements for MachineGames' soon-to-be-released shooter, but went on to say they're the specs "to deliver the PC game as it was intended to be experienced." So, while the specs are listed as "system requirements," Bethesda stopped short of calling them "minimum" requirements.
Make of that what you will. Anyway, the specs in full are:- 64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
- Intel Core i7 or equivalent
- AMD4 GB System RAM
- 50GB free HDD space
- GeForce 460, ATI Radeon HD 6850
- High Speed Internet Connection
- Steam account and activation required
As for the consoles, PS4 and Xbox One owners need 47GB free for installs, while it's 8GB for installs on Xbox 360 and PS3 - that goes up to 17GB for a PSN download. The New Order remains primed for launch on May 20, when players will see the return of steely hero B.J. Blazkowicz, but in an alternate reality where the Nazis won the war. So, a bit like the movie Sliding Doors, except... nope, let's end that analogy right there.

The UK PC download chart has collapsed, MCV understands.
It officially launched in May last year, but hasn’t been seen since MCV published the statistics for Q2 2013 last October.
The chart was put together by UKIE and stat giant IPSOS. To build it they would receive data from publishers such as Sega, EA, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Warner and 2K.
However, a number of companies would not share their data, including Activision and Bethesda. And MCV has been told that the project was proving a burden to the publishers that had committed to it.
Various PC digital retailers – including Steam and Green Man Gaming – all report sales data in different ways, making compiling the figures time-consuming. This has made it very difficult for UKIE to put out a regular chart.
As a result, the trade body has put the download chart on the back burner, and will now work on a new project to discover the size of the PC download market. It hopes to bring the chart back in the future.
The news comes as a blow to the global games industry. The absence of figures is putting the market under unnecessary strain as it struggles to attract support from various Government bodies and investors.
Those looking to invest in digital games companies are instead forced to seek out alternative data sources to justify their investment.
Head of digital for investment firm Mercia Fund Management (and former Sega chief) Mike Hayes said: “The lack of cohesive agglomerated digital data in the games market may be a challenge for some, but there is enough proprietary and benchmark data around to enable good decisions to be made.”
