Publisher Gameforge has today thrown open the gates to a new region for Runes of Magic players, Chrysalia. The region was shaped by the power of the four elements and is home to a new raid instance, the Kulech Bones Nest. In this challenging dungeon, groups of up to twelve players can enter into battle against belligerent ant creatures, gruesome maggots and an evil ant queen. The latest episode of the RoMcast is also out today and shows scenes from the region, giving a closer insight into the new content.
Chrysalia lies in the north of the Taborean continent, a region carved by deep canyons that can only be traversed using the rickety bridges swaying above the drops. The region is inhabited by two ant-like races, the Garon and the Kulech. The Garon are peaceable sorts and friendly to adventurers; the Kulech however, are to be feared and only approached if you are well equipped and prepared for a savage battle. The path to the Bones Nest instance will lead players by the serene Sanctuary of Balance, past mysterious investigation camps and production plants, through to the bloody battlefield. This is where the best of the best come to take on the Ant Queen and her hordes of minions.

Ray Media Group Limited moves on its plan as reported before, to release Dragon’s Call II open beta today, at 22:00 September 25 (EDT, GMT -4). The open beta test is permanent, and server 1 is called Windmill Village, which is a place in game.
On the occasion of the release, there is one hot vote in Dragon’s Call II Forum thread, a single poll for Community Manager of the game. Community Manager, the top position of volunteer staff, which similarly equals to unofficial GM, will be put in the head of responsibilities for the game community and volunteer staff; will be the most dependable person to work with and to help every player become comfortable learning DCII, assisting with events and such. I Shall Remain's Dev team reveled a new gameplay demo and has been shooting out free copies of their current build to gamers who spread word of their new Greenlight page.
Their gameplay footage shows off some recent additions including doctrine shopping, building barrier defenses and fire team assaults. This video is one of several the developers will be releasing over the next week in order to increase exposure of their game's Steam Greenlight page. The footage is pulled from the game's survival map.

Since last week, web-savy gamers that want a current of build the game have been receiving download keys. Reverb Publishing announced today that one of the titles it has placed in Valve’s newly launched Steam Greenlight program,Edge of Space, has broken into the top 50 most popular games on the site. In just three weeks after launching on Steam Greenlight, the dynamic sandbox survival adventure game has shot up the list, receiving positive community support and expanding its already robust community.
Having recently been successfully funded on Kickstarter, HandyMan Studios’ Edge of Space is an exploration, crafting, building, terraforming, and survival game, placing players in an open-world sandbox to build, create, mold, and work to survive in the deepest, darkest, weirdest, and possibly most interesting part of the known universe.

World of Warcraft studio Blizzard Entertainment appears to have eased its scepticism of Windows 8, weeks after an exec at the studio criticised the new Microsoft operating system.
 The studio's senior software engineer, Darren Williams, confirmed that the MMO would support Windows 8, despite a growing number of PC developers turning against the operating system."We put our games on platforms our players are already on, so yeah, it will be available on Windows 8," Williams said in an interview with CVG ahead of today's global release of the Mists of Pandaria expansion.
He said that the studio has not worked on Windows 8 directly yet, but will expand to it.
"I think that we'll go with the platforms that the most people are on. There's no particular fear we have of Windows 8," he added.
Williams' statement comes in the wake of comments made by Rob Pardo, the executive vice president of game design at Blizzard Entertainment, who appeared to criticise the new PC platform.
Most vocal against Windows 8 is Valve co-founder Gabe Newell, the games industry luminary who appears to have sparked the debate itself.
In July, Newell triggered the debate by declaring Windows 8 "a catastrophe" for people working in the PC space.
It is believed that Newell's specific concern is that the new OS could lead to content update filtering by Microsoft, which in turn could bottle-neck updates on platforms such as Steam.
Microsoft declined to comment on Windows 8 matters when approached by CVG.

For Sony, it's all about the presentation. To be sure, since the company put all of its mobile products under one roof, it's achieved more of a balance between style and substance than it did with the original Tablet S and Tablet P -- two devices that had a lopsided emphasis on unique, proof-of-concept designs over user experience. It's fair to say those initial tablet efforts failed to resonate with consumers, leaving the company with little recourse other than an all-out do-over.
Which is why the new Xperia Tablet S has a lot to prove: it can't get by based on looks alone. Running skinned Ice Cream Sandwich and packing a quad-core Tegra 3 SoC, this 9.4-incher maintains the same 1,280 x 800 IPS LCD panel used on the first-gen S, and even assumes the same folded-over magazine shape -- albeit, in thinner form. Yes, that full SD slot remains, but you might not need to rely on it now that the tablet comes with up to 64GB of built-in storage. So, will an emphasis on OS, ecosystem (Video Unlimited, Music Unlimited, Crackle, Reader, etc.) and a slimmed-down build make up for the blunders of the first-gen Tablet S? Blizzard will tonight be hosting several launch events across Europe ahead of the release of World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria.
Events are set to be held in cities including London, Paris, Madrid, Moscow, Cologne, Stockholm and Madrid.
Members of the Blizzard team will be on hand at each event, including president Mike Morhaime and lead systems designer Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street, who will provide developer interviews and delve into the key features of the acclaimed franchise's fourth expansion.
There will even be live orchestral performances of the game's soundtrack, which is sure to offer the seasoned Warcraft an authentic experience.
Players opting to stay at home in order to log into the game as soon as it launches at 11pm GMT won't have to miss out either, as film crews at each event will provide coverage of the evening's celebrations.
Events will be broadcast via live stream on both Blizzard's official YouTube channel, or right here on PCR.

Earlier in the year, IDC estimated that tablet shipments would hit 106m in 2012, a revision on the previously predicted 87.7m.
Of course, the Microsoft Surface, Galaxy Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HDand Kobo Arc have been revealed since that time, while an iPad Mini is expected to debut very soon.
It's likely that in combination with the 'robust consumer demand' that has encouraged the researcher to wager that worldwide shipments will reach 117.1m unit in 2012, with sales set to surge in Q4 ahead of Christmas.
Devices shipped by OS share between 2011-2012 and 2012-2016 are set to look like this:
* Windows tablets comprising Windows 7, RT, and 8 are to rise from one per cent in 2011 to four per cent, up to 11 per cent.
* iOS to grow from 57.2 per cent in 2011 to 60 per cent before slipping back to 58 per cent.
* Android to slip from from 38.9 per cent to 35.3 per cent, declining further to 30.5 per cent by 2016.
RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook wasn't even mentioned, presumably on a lack of sway in the space, though the firm attempted to revive interest recently with a Canada-only launch of a LTE-enabled model.
Meanwhile, 2013 shipments have also been adjusted from 142.8m to 165.9m, while 2016 worldwide shipments are set to reach 261.4m.
Tom Mainelli, research director, mobile connected devices at IDC, said: "Apple leads the market with its iPad, and we expect its dominance to continue in the second half of the year. Still, we believe there is room in the market for others to find success, and new Android- and Windows-based products shipping in the coming months will give consumers plenty of buying options during the holiday season."
Jennifer Song, research analyst for IDC's worldwide trackers, said: "Tablets running Microsoft's upcoming Windows 8 and RT operating systems, including the company's own Surface tablets, will add some momentum.
"However, we expect shipments to remain low in the fourth quarter as high prices and consumer confusion around these devices will limit their appeal. Also, in the second half of the year Android should benefit from the success of the Nexus 7 and Amazon's launch of new Kindle Fires."

The center of power in the Eternal City is collapsing. The gods do not answer prayers for peace and compromise, and have chosen to reward the Empire instead with decades of civil strife.
Now you can replay five episodes from Rome's tumultuous history of Civil Wars. "Alea Jacta Est" is now available for all armchair commanders who believe that they know how Pompey could have saved the Republic or how the provincial upstart Vespasian could have been kept from the imperial purple.
Alea Jacta Est is the latest historical wargame from French wargame developer AGEOD, the makers of the critically acclaimed "Birth of America" and popular "American Civil War". Review codes are available for any interested critic who wants to try their hand at a classic turn-based game with five challenging scenarios ranging from the decline of Rome's republic to the squabbling of generals in the early Empire.
"Alea Jacta Est" is available direct from the developer at their website and will soo be available from Matrix Games.

Firefly Studios, creators of the Stronghold series, have released a new tutorial video for their free-to-play MMO Stronghold Kingdoms.
These Official Tutorial videos are designed to give new Kingdoms players a helping hand, each explaining how a different aspect of the game works. Whether you’re building your first village, exploring the game world, interacting with other players or crushing The Wolf, these videos should serve as a guide for doing just that.
The third Official Stronghold Kingdoms Tutorial video details the games Enemy AI. Bandit Camps, Wolf Lairs and Enemy Siege Camps each have unique passive and aggressive attributes, in addition to effects on your popularity and honour. Understanding how they work is key for new players.

Dogfight 1942 will be available for Steam members today.Dogfight 1942, the exhilarating console-like experience available as a digital download, aims to bring the aerial combat genre to a whole new level. It combines the pick-up-and-play simplicity of an arcade game, the convenience of a digital download, with the depth and production value typically found solely in traditional retail games.
Dogfight 1942 is a fast-paced WWII air combat arcade-style game that features three unique game modes -- Dogfight, Survival and Campaign -- each offering an abundance of action that is engaging and exciting. City Interactive seamlessly implemented intuitive controls in order to reduce the need for lengthy tutorials and for gamers of all levels to quickly and easily grab a remote and jump right into the game. However, while the controls are not overly complicated, gameplay is extremely competitive so that even the most ardent flight game fan will find Dogfight 1942 challenging.
In addition to the Steam release, City Interactive today launched their second DLC installment, Dogfight 1942:Fire Over Africa on Xbox Live Arcade. Fans of the game are presented with the challenge of facing the infamous General Rommel in a clash with his forces above Tobruk. The all-out battle in the sky marks one of the most pivotal aerial skirmishes on the African front – the Battle of El Alamein.
In Fire Over Africa, players will need to become Britain’s top pilot in order to help the Allies repel the Nazi threat before the ominous shadow of the Axis Alliance takes over the sands of Africa. The scorching hot African sky will soon light up with the flames of heavy cannons and fill with the smoke of bullet-ridden fighter planes.
