HTC has enabled developers to publish titles compatible with Oculus Rift through its own Viveport platform, giving users access to games built for both rival virtual reality headsets.
According to the announcement, developers can choose to opt-in for this compatibility from today with the hopes of building up a sizeable library before Viveport is launched to consumers on September 4th.
HTC claims this "doubles the potential audience" for all titles published through the platform, as well as the firm's own Viveport Subscription service. This offers VR users access to a library of almost 500 titles, where they are able to download and play five titles at a time for a monthly fee.
It's an interesting move, and perhaps one necessary to ensure a marketplace like Viveport flourishes in a market as niche as virtual reality. The cost of entry - both for VR hardware and the high-end PCs required to support it - has been an ongoing challenge for virtual reality firms, and as such the audience remains somewhat limited.

GameEx v15.32 is released. GameEx is a graphical DirectX based front-end for MAME, Zinc, Daphne, PC Games, and all command line based game emulators, along with being a good Home Theatre PC solution. It also makes a good CarPC and touchscreen frontend. ROM Properties v1.3 is released. ROM Properties is a shell extension adding the ability to display additional information to file managers. ROM Properties is currently available for Linux and Windows. This shell extension adds a few nice features to file browsers for managing video game ROM and disc images.

The Ubuntu packages have been moved from GitHub downloads to an Ubuntu Personal Package Archive. Builds are now available for Ubuntu 16.04 "Xenial" Xerus and Ubuntu 18.04 "Bionic" Beaver.
To add the PPA and install rom-properties, run the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gerbilsoft/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rom-properties-all
This will install all rom-properties frontends and executables. Individual frontends can be installed by installing the relevant rom-properties-* package.

Heres a new Mobile Phone Emulator for Windows:
FreeJ2ME (2018/05/30) is released. FreeJ2ME is a simple J2ME emulator with a focus on old mobile phone games. It was designed to run on Windows, desktop Linux, and on the Raspberry Pi 3 using Libretro and Retroarch as provided by RetroPie. It supports some games not playable using MicroEmulator and Kemulat0r, though it does not support every game those play. At the moment, it's best to have all three if you're interested in those types of games. Some games only run at specific resolutions. Per-game configuration is available from the menu (by pressing esc). Preferences are saved and will automatically load. Games automatically scale with the window size, making it easy to play games designed for smaller screen sizes. The Java portion can be built using Apache Ant with the build.xml file provided. The Libretro core can be built using the build.sh script. Installation instructions for the Libretro core for RetroPie are included.

New Commodore 64 and Amiga Emulator for Windows:
Denise v1.0.1 is released. Denise is a cycle accurate and platform independant c64 / amiga emulator. At the moment ONLY c64 cartridge, tape and prg files are supported and features like savestates are not available. My motivation for this project is understanding how it works and write clean and easy readable code.

ColEm v4.6 is released. ColEm is a ColecoVision emulator. ColEm will run software written for the ColecoVision video game console. ColEm package itself does not contain any games. You should place your own game files onto the SD card before running ColEm. Please, do not run any software you do not own with ColEm. The author cannot and will not tell you where to find free ColecoVision games.
ColEm v4.6 Changelog:
* Made replay save states approximately every 170ms.
* Added ability to browse through paused replay.
* During replay, press [UP] to pause or resume.
* When replay paused, press [LEFT] and [RIGHT] to browse.
