Creative's finally put that whole driver fiasco behind them and released Vista-capable drivers for their X-FI cards. What took them so long? Who knows, but they've added DVD Audio playback, which is nice, I guess. Grab yours now if you haven't broken your X-Fi in half already.

Progress on the homebrew game for PC.
Here´s a premix of the main tunnel song, keep in mind that this version will change until the game is released, specially the drums section.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RU2Nzf....blogspot.com/
There will be more atmospheric tracks, don´t worry. I just wanted to keep alive the original rithm, even if it´s for the first section of the game.
About the Metroid fight music: There will be a variation of the fight song for every evolution, Omegas will feature a new song and the Queen battle song will be a remake of the original one.
I´m finishing the Alpha Metroid fight song for the upcoming trailer.
Started working on the third ruins, I´m still sketching the rooms while finishing some original tiles for the outside part of the temple.
Anyway, let me know what you think about the music style, all your comments are really appreciated (Yes, I read them all).

Here's a sober warning about the perils of allowing your community too much say. Teen social and casual gaming site Gaia Online held a user competition to come up with a name for its in-development MMO and has just announced the winning title: zOMG!
"It's short, it's punchy, it's memorable and it pretty much says it all," said a Gaia representative. "Many congrats to Chat_God for suggesting the title!"
It doesn't look so bad when you consider some of the alternatives that were submitted: Do Your Best or Try, Christmas Dawg, Who I Like From Naruto, Mormon Battle, Rings Of Legasy The Whole Thing Will Be Like Huge, and Stool.
zOMG! - a title which plays all kinds of merry havoc with our auto-correct feature, thanks for that - is a Flash-based browser MMO with combat, minigames and cheery manga-style graphics. It has just started closed beta testing.

The PC version of Mass Effect mission pack Bring Down the Sky is now available to download.
This is completely free for those punching keys and wiggling mice, though there do seem to be some teething problems.
Members of the official Mass Effect forum point to graphical glitches with NVIDIA cards as well as various technical hiccups after installing the Bring Down the Sky content.
If you can find a "repair" option in the "configure" settings of the game launcher, the problems should be fixable. However, this "repair" appears to only be available in the US version of the game.
Bring Down the Sky is already available on Xbox 360, but sadly felt like a missed opportunity to us. Head over to our Bring Down the Sky review to find out why.
Mass Effect was released for PC in May and is the better of the two versions available, thanks to more organised inventory, hot-keys, and separable squad commands.

For the privileged few, a Red Alert 3 beta test is about to kick off. And in order to get those testers sorted, EA needed to let them know the game's minimum system specs. Now granted, this being a beta, and with the game a whiles off, things are subject to change. But if they do change, they probably won't change much. Click through for the full run-down, but if you need a summary first, know that thing's are looking surprisingly generous.
System Requirements:
* OS – Windows XP / Vista (32-Bit)
* Processor – XP: 2.0 GHz (Intel Pentium 4; AMD Athlon 2000+; Multiple Cores) / Vista: 2.2 GHz (Intel Pentium 4/AMD Athlon 2200+/Multiple Cores)
* Memory – XP/Vista: 1 GB
* Hard Drive – Media: 6.0 GB / EA Link: 12.0 GB
* DVD Drive - 8 SPEED
* Video Card – NVIDIA GeForce 6800, ATI Radeon X1800 or higher end DirectX 9.0c compatible gfx card
* Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible (Creative Sound Blaster Audigy cards require a Intel P4 2.6 GHz or similar under Vista, Yamaha Xwave-512 not supported)
* Online Multiplayer – 512 Kbps or faster; 2-8 Players
* Input - Keyboard, Mouse
* Optional – VoIP Headset

Five new Crysis Warhead screenshots have appeared online. You can see them below.
The shot with the jeep and the APC really impresses us. At least, we think it's an APC. It could be a tank. Our military knowledge is limited.
We thought the vehicle sections of Crysis were a bit unwieldy and hard to control, but this looks a lot more solid.
Also, the screen depicting dual wielding is bound to get the hearts of overkill fans racing.

News via Aep:
Doom64 EX is a free clone of the Nintendo64 game, Doom64 (developed by Midway).
The goal is to perfectly re-create Doom64 in every way possible and to support Win32 and *Unix platforms.
The Doom64 EX engine is based on the Doom3D source port.
I am quite happy to announce the first public release of Doom64 EX. I wanted to make sure everything is in a stable state before I make a public release, however this release is not official.
I am seeking feedback for what everyone likes, what they don't like, and what they like to see improved or enhanced. Though do not expect massive/overhaul changes or updates. Keep the feature suggestions realistic. I am also seeking those to point out any serious bugs as well.
Please take the time to review the readme on how to setup D64Ex and for its known issues.
---------------------------------------------
System Requirements
---------------------------------------------
- Windows 9x/2000/XP/Vista
- DirectX 6.0 or higher
- 64mb ram (128mb recommended)
- 1.2ghz Processor or higher (800mhz without music)
- 128mb Graphics Card or higher
- Doom64 N64 ROM (U) or (E) versions only.

Showcase video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=eVfW7ES1pv4
Download link:
http://kaiser.startan3.com/Public/Doom64.zip
Edit: Now at version 1.1a which fixes two major flaws (Hectic crash, and a typo in the Mancubus attack pointer where it fails to invalidate a target).
Edit again: Now at version 1.1b. Please review CHANGES.TXT for all the updates and fixes since 1.1a. This version I would concider stable, but please keep on reporting bugs and other issues that may arise.
Edit again: Download link is updated with version 1.1c. Make sure you review changes.txt for whats been done and as always, keep reporting any issues or bugs that may arise.

Gas Powered Games has popped out a PC demo for Space Siege.
The sampler, which comes in at just under 1GB, offers you the role of futuristic hero Seth Walker, an engineer tasked with saving humanity.
Space Siege is a bit like Mass Effect: there's a big story to unravel with lots of characters to meet and multiple paths to go down, plus plenty of character customisation through abilities, skills, and even a personal robot chum.
The trump card may be co-operative online play for up to four players with adjustable scenario options.
We shall find out when Space Siege is released on 22nd August and we'll have a review nearer the time.
