One of the best websites (other than ours ahem!) is Dan Thoresen's Dungeon Crawling website; a website that's chock full of great Dungeon Crawling info such as Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore, and even the top of the crop Dungeon Master. So it's with great excitement, considering it is coming from Dan himself, is the brand new game announcement of Realms of Genthar; an upcoming Dungeon Crawler that will be completely playable in a browser!

Microsoft has raised the alarm today about a new malware strain that infects users' devices and then proceeds to modify browsers and their settings in order to inject ads into search results pages. From a report:
Named Adrozek, the malware has been active since at least May 2020 and reached its absolute peak in August this year when it controlled more than 30,000 browsers each day. But in a report today, the Microsoft 365 Defender Research Team believes the number of infected users is much, much higher. Microsoft researchers said that between May and September 2020, they observed "hundreds of thousands" of Adrozek detections all over the globe. Based on internal telemetry, the highest concentration of victims appears to be located in Europe, followed by South and Southeast Asia. Microsoft says that, currently, the malware is distributed via classic drive-by download schemes. Users are typically redirected from legitimate sites to shady domains where they are tricked into installing malicious software. The boobytrapped software installs the Androzek malware, which then proceeds to obtain reboot persistence with the help of a registry key.

More than one million people have already purchased Cyberpunk on Steam alone.
Within the first two hours after launch, the number of concurrent users playing CD Projekt Red's sci-fi action RPG was up to 1,003,264, according to PC Gamer.
A further million was watching gameplay via Twitch.
The Steam figure breaks the marketplace's record for most concurrent users for a single-player game, more than doubling that of previous record holder Fallout 4, which reached 472,962 players at launch in 2015.
The overall record for most concurrent users on a single title on Steam is still held by PUBG, which gathered 3.3 million people in January 2018.
But as more people purchase the game today, it could catch up to Dota 2's peak of 1.29 million players or Counter-Strike GO's 1.3 million.

Valve added several new options to browse Steam and improve discoverability on the store.
This is part of its Steam Labs Experiments, which users need to opt in to take part in, and aims at providing new points of entry for players, the announcement said.
The first new tool introduced by Steam is a "New & Noteworthy" menu, giving access to current events running on the store, "including game festivals, publisher sales, and other seasonal celebrations."
Valve also added new categories, essentially expanding on the list of genres that was previously available as a default. For example, the RPG category now has sub-genres such as action RPG, CRPG, dungeon crawler, rogue-like, and more.
The experiment also aims at providing more ways to find a game to play by using player motivations, which can be essentially grouped into three categories: genre, theme (fantasy, relaxing, horror, LGBTQ+, etc), and player mode (multiplayer, co-op, MMO, etc).

CD Projekt Red has released some launch day statistics for Cyberpunk 2077, reporting the game reached eight million pre-orders.
The figures were revealed by a series of tweets from the Polish developer's investor relations Twitter account.
As could be expected during the year of a pandemic, the vast majority of these pre-orders -- 74%, according to the studio -- were for digital versions, accounting for around 5.9 million units.
This has partly been driven by how strong interest was on PC, which accounted for 59% of all pre-orders.
That puts the number of PC players with a copy of Cyberpunk ready to go at launch at 4.72 million -- smashing the record for fastest-selling PC game set by World of Warcraft's Shadowlands expansion just last week.
Factor in any additional purchases today, and Cyberpunk 2077 is certain to leave Shadowlands' 3.7 million day one sales far behind.

Over the years there's certainly been a surge in home made cases and internal changes to bring the Raspberry Pi into an almost seamless look giving us the impression we are playing on an old console. This all fused together with so many games through Pi Retro Emulation that no original console or games are needed. I mean seriously, if you didn't want a NES or SNES mini, you could buy a tiny NES case, bang a Raspberry Pi inside, add a few extra parts, install someone software, thousands of roms and you have your own emulation station running through a HDMI TV!

One of the best Amstrad games I ever played with my dad, was the 1986 Firebird release of ' Thrust '. It was an extremely challenging vectored thrust game that required the best of your skills to tractor an orb out from underneath dangerous cave like landscapes. Most of your time was spent blasting power stations or avoiding smashing into rocks but the game kept you hooked! Now if you were also a fan of this great game, you'll be pleased to know that Happy Cactus Games are taking the classic Thrust into a new level of awesomeness in 'Super Space Towers'.

WinUAE v4.5.0 Beta 12 is released. WinUAE is the commodore amiga emulator for Windows. WinUAE is a mostly complete software emulation of the hardware of the Commodore Amiga 500/1000/2000. A Commodore Amiga, for those who don’t know, is a 16/32 bit computer system based on the Motorola 680×0 CPU and a few specially designed custom chips that provide very good graphics and sound capabilities. Its first incarnation, the A1000, appeared in 1985, followed by the highly successful A500 and A2000 models. WinUAE is a port of the originally written for Unixish systems UAE; but over time, it seems the Windows port, WinUAE has become the best version available on any platform. WinUAE is free software: you are welcome to distribute copies of it and/or modify it, under certain conditions. There is no warranty of any kind for UAE. For more details concerning these issues, please read the GNU General Public License, which describes the terms under which WinUAE is distributed.

QEMU v5.2.0-rc4 is released. QEMU is a generic and open source machine emulator and virtualizer. When used as a machine emulator, QEMU can run OSes and programs made for one machine (e.g. an ARM board) on a different machine (e.g. your own PC). By using dynamic translation, it achieves very good performances. When used as a virtualizer, QEMU achieves near native performances by executing the guest code directly on the host CPU. A host driver called the QEMU accelerator (also known as KQEMU) is needed in this case. The virtualizer mode requires that both the host and guest machine use x86 compatible processors.

Epic Games announced it won't organise any in-person Fortnite events in 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Epic said its priority is the health and safety of both its staff and Fortnite players, and that there is too much uncertainty about the situation to guarantee either for the foreseeable future.
"With so much still unknown about what is practical and safe, we do not plan to hold in-person events in 2021, including a Fortnite World Cup," the announcement read. "We will continue to provide online competitions throughout 2021 with the hopes that physical events, in some form, can return at some point in the future."

Roblox is officially heading to China, having gained two licences from the nation's regulators.
The Chinese version of the widely played children's game will be published by Tencent on mobile and PC, reports South China Morning Post. No release date has been given yet.
Tencent and Roblox announced last year they were working together on a joint venture company that is creating an educational version of the latter's flagship title.
The joint venture will be working with schools and educators, using the game -- which focuses on user-generated content -- to help teach science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills.
The ultimate goal is to launch the original version in China at a later date.
News of the game's approval for release in China follows Roblox's filing for an IPO in the US. It aims to raise $1 billion and is expected to be listed some time this month.
The educational version of Roblox was one of 42 approvals made by China's regulators, which is still working through a backlog after freezing approvals in 2018 ahead of restructuring its processes.
