Pantheon v9.228 is released. Pantheon is Windows desktop application with collection of games for video consoles and home computers from the past. The games are not the part of the application, instead they will be downloaded (with the game manual or review - if available) from the internet, after you activate the game. Downloaded files are stored on the local file system and will be available offline the next time you wish to play the game. Finally, the program file is loaded into the memory and executed inside the emulator. Current version has emulator of Atari 2600 with collection of 170 games, emulator of Atari 5200 with collection of 50 games and emulator of Atari 8-bit computers with collection of 26 games.
Pantheon is still in development, new features and games are added almost every day. But you may experience occasional artifacts or crashes during the gameplay, and game snapshots may not be available in the following releases.

DOSBox-X v0.82.25 (2020/01/01) is released. DOSBox-x is a branch of DOSBox. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC, complete with sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, etc., necessary for running many old MS-DOS games that simply cannot be run on modern PCs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and FreeBSD.
DOSBox-X Changelog:
Added 1920x1440 4:3 HD VESA BIOS mode and increased
scaler limits to support it.
VESA BIOS emulation now rejects video modes that
exceed the render scaler architecture's limits,
to avoid frozen screens if set. However, VESAMOED.COM
warns the user, so if the user ignores the warning,
VESA BIOS emulation will allow user-defined modes
that exceed the limits anyway.
VESAMOED.COM will now warn you if the custom mode
you modified exceeds the render scaler's limits.
VGA emulation now reports render scaler limits
in the logfile at startup, if debug logging is
enabled.
Render scaler code now logs a warning when it
rejects a video mode that exceeds the render
scaler limits.
S3 emulation now allows 16MB of video memory.
Due to continuous problems with DOS games and a
very long VESA modelist, the defaults for VESA
BIOS options in dosbox.conf have been changed to
limit the modelist to something a late 1990s
VESA BIOS would list. New defaults include a
maximum resolution of 1280x1024, the removal of
4bpp 16-color packed, unusual video modes,
"High Definition" TV broadcast modes, and the
extra explicitly defined 24bpp modes to complement
VBE1.2 32bpp modes. Those options remain
changeable and all limits can be lifted with
settings in dosbox.conf if wanted.
Allow using "" in the debugger to specify that
a hex value should be used rather than the
contents of the flag with that name. Allows
hex values of AC, AF, CF and DF to be directly
specified. (Allofich)
25.COM, 28.COM, and 50.COM now have different
versions for VGA, EGA, and other IBM compatible
video machines. 28.COM now correctly sets 28 lines
for machine=ega. CGA/MDA/Hercules/etc. still use
INT AX=3h for 25.COM.
Change 25.COM to use INT 10h AX=1114h (8x16) instead
of INT 10h AX=3 (set 80x25 mode).
INT 10h AX=1111h (8x14) and AX=1113h (8x8), related
to 28.COM and 50.COM, now range check the current
cursor row against number of rows to keep it on
screen.
Fixed ADDKEY "full" command not turning on the
full core when used with a delay. (Allofich)
INT 10h AX=101Ah Get Video DAC color-page state fixed
to restore display after blanking it due to Attribute
Controller read and write operations. This fixes
IBM PC compatible MS-DOS game "Blue Force".
Debugger: "VGA AC" now shows AC disable bits as well
as the internal state indicating whether the last
byte written to 3C0h was handled as the index.

We are thrilled to announce that the Blade Runner point and click adventure game, developed by Westwood Studios and originally released in 1997, is now available again for purchase, thanks to the efforts of GOG.com. This new digitally distributed version includes the officially dubbed versions of the game (English, French, Italian, Spanish and German).
Of course, it runs on top of ScummVM, which means it contains various bug fixes and quality of life improvements (like mouse-scrolling in KIA and fan made subtitles support) over the original 1997 version of the game.
You will find subtitles for the English and French versions of the game on the Games section of the ScummVM website.
We still have plans to complete the restored content version for the game, which is built from content and code segments that are already in the game’s resources but left unused or untriggered.
PS. If you use the link above we will get a commission from your purchase.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PC last month on both the Rockstar Games launcher and the Epic Games Store, with the promise of a Steam release a month later. But whether because of the coming Steam release or technical difficulties or its year and change on console already or some other factor, its Epic Games Store sales numbers appear to have been a bit muted.
SuperData shares that Red Dead Redemption 2 sold 408,000 units on the Epic Games Store in November, paling in comparison to Borderlands 3's launch on the same storefront which brought in 1.78 million units in its debut month. Though, to be fair, that launch was simultaneous with console, and Gearbox's shooter is still unavailable on Steam.
That meant that Red Dead Redemption 2 came nowhere near breaching the top 10 games on PC for November, ranked by digital sales. League of Legends was No.1, and the rest of the list consisted of mostly familiar faces, though Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order notably debuted at No.6.

QEMU v4.2.0-rc4 is released. QEMU is a generic and open source machine emulator and virtualizer. When used as a machine emulator, QEMU can run OSes and programs made for one machine (e.g. an ARM board) on a different machine (e.g. your own PC). By using dynamic translation, it achieves very good performances. When used as a virtualizer, QEMU achieves near native performances by executing the guest code directly on the host CPU. A host driver called the QEMU accelerator (also known as KQEMU) is needed in this case. The virtualizer mode requires that both the host and guest machine use x86 compatible processors.

WinUAE v4.3.0 Beta 7 is released. WinUAE is the commodore amiga emulator for Windows. WinUAE is a mostly complete software emulation of the hardware of the Commodore Amiga 500/1000/2000. A Commodore Amiga, for those who don’t know, is a 16/32 bit computer system based on the Motorola 680×0 CPU and a few specially designed custom chips that provide very good graphics and sound capabilities. Its first incarnation, the A1000, appeared in 1985, followed by the highly successful A500 and A2000 models. WinUAE is a port of the originally written for Unixish systems UAE; but over time, it seems the Windows port, WinUAE has become the best version available on any platform. WinUAE is free software: you are welcome to distribute copies of it and/or modify it, under certain conditions. There is no warranty of any kind for UAE. For more details concerning these issues, please read the GNU General Public License, which describes the terms under which WinUAE is distributed.

Streaming platforms such as Google Stadia are set to be game changers in the coming years, especially when combined with subscription-based, flat-rate business models. For developers and publishers, they are yet another way to bring games to a bigger audience. But they also bring new legal issues, especially those relating to licensing agreements. In this article, I will be highlighting some of the more important points.
[h=2]Scope of the IP license[/h]First and foremost, the scope of the license might need to be revisited. Publishers licensing a game from a developer, for example, will want to make sure the scope of the license covers streaming and related business models. In the case that the contract provides for a "rights buyout," publishers seem to be covered -- but many legal systems, especially continental European legal systems, do not allow for a "buyout" of copyright. Which means that a publisher using a "buyout" clause when contracting with a developer in such a country might end up without sufficient rights.
This also means that any license agreements drafted for legal systems in which a "buyout" is not possible typically have a long list of the rights that are granted, often in an annex -- will "streaming" be among the permitted uses in such an annex?

Minecraft was the most popular game on YouTube in 2019, racking up over 100 billion total views.
The popularity of Minecraft is unparalleled on the platform, driven largely by controversial YouTuber Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg.
Back in August, Kjellberg surpassed 100 million subscribers to become the most followed solo creator on YouTube.
Over the years, he has been embroiled in numerous controversies, including rows over racism and anti-semitism. In March, a mass shooter killed 51 people in Christchurch, New Zealand, beginning his live stream of the attack by saying: "Remember lads, subscribe to PewDiePie."
These controversies don't appear to have affected Kjellberg's popularity as a children's entertainer on the platform however.
"[Minecraft's] resurgence paralleled the decision by YouTube's most subscribed creator, PewDiePie, to re-engage with the game in late June," said YouTube.
"The month after PewDiePie posted 'Minecraft Part 1' - his first Minecraft video in years - uploads of videos related to the game reached an all-time high. And Minecraft, once again, returned to its place atop the most-viewed games of the year list."
While the popularity of Fortnite has been quelled somewhat this year, it still remains a dominant cultural force.
However, any illusions that was the most popular game have been shattered, after it was the second-most viewed game on YouTube with 60.9 billion views.

Raine v0.90.2 is released. RAINE is an Emulator for Arcade games. Raine is a M68000 and M68020 arcade game emulator. Raine emulates some M68000 and M68020 arcade games and is mainly focused on Taito and Jaleco games hardware. It started as an experiment with the Rainbow Islands romset, dumped by Aracorn/Romlist. Raine can emulate many nice games now, and new games (previously unemulated) are appearing weekly.
Raine v0.90.2 changelog:
v0.90.2:
- Fixed: It calls itself Raine32 instead of Raine64 (raine.h only, I keep the config file raine32-sdl.cfg for compatibility).
- Fixed: The Q-sound logo is corrupted (Alien vs Predator). It was a bug in the video C functions, I didn't have a lot of opportunities to test them, so it could affect a lot of games actually, all sprites which are not 16x16 and which use flip (x or y) are affected.
- Fixed: MS pacman (6 maps) is buggy - the 2nd screen is corrupt and you die at the start of the level. 2 things here, the buggy look of the level is the way it is, the most annoying point in my opinion are the invisible super pills, the ones that normally blink, here they show at the start of the level, then disappear but are still there... Also the moving bonuses can pass through walls sometimes ! Maybe I shouldn't have kept this one, but I was curious... it's playable anyway.
And your crash seems to happen only in windows, it's a read outside the rom limits, but I wonder how windows does its allocations, normally such a read should land in the gfx zone and so return a value without crashing anything, that's what happens in linux. Go figure... anyway it's fixed too, this kind of read affect mspacman and its clones, plus pacman25 (from the comments about it).
v0.90.1:
- just got an idea of a perl script which helped me to find about 25 games broken with musashi and easily fixable, so updated the binary with this, and here is 0.90.1 (don't expect any other update this fast !)
v0.90.0:
- The big news except the new cpu emulators is the support for internet archive roms with curl, which means raine will try to download a rom from internet archive if it's not available on disk. A lot of things are missing, it's not done for collectors who want everything, but it's much better than the very few roms which are really free (f3demo and f2demo, that's all ?). Here you have all the neogeo roms, some cps roms, and a few roms like 64street.
- drivers updates :
*pbobble2 becomes pbobble2o, and add pbobble2 v2.30 (I didn't see any improvement to this one and I even wonder if it's really a newer version).
*bubsymph & bubsymphu disappear and are replaced by the region switch for bublbob2 which is much nicer for me. Also :
the old bublbob2 which was version 2.50 becomes bublbob2o
*add the new v2.60 as bublbob2
*add the prototype as bublbob2p (it's an interesting prototype for once, it's like bublbobl but with the 68020 features).
*The pixel layer emulation is redone because of this game in taito f3, you get better colors, and some experimental strange line scroll effect, afaik it's only visible in the buble boble 2 prototype, the values are strange I should look into it some more later.
*syvalion was fixed, its mouse control was broken, making it almost unplayable
*more cpu power to arkanoid2, just to make it more fun when the screen is covered with balls... !
*prevent rodland & megablast to crash when loaded
*There was a fix for garou in neocd which was reverted because it was creating to many problems elsewhere. Problem is I lost the details of the garou bug (and the savegame), so I tried a few things, for me it works but I can't be sure.
- hiscore.dat : the new mame format is also supported (but the old one too, and at the same time !), and it tries to detect when its area is cleared (after a reset or service mode for example, and can survive it now).
- Planned : I might try to switch to sdl2 for windows users and their fullscreen problem, but sdl2 is not an evolution of sdl1.2, it's more a new lib which happens to have a very few things in common with sdl1.2. Which means that if I add support for that, it will be like a revolution, I'll have to get rid of a lot of things and eventually re-add them later differently. So it will be a big mess. For now no promise.

Google is offering to refund any users of its new Stadia game streaming service that purchased titles it is adding to its monthly subscription package.
Stadia launched last week with a range of titles available for individual purchase. Then last night, it was announced two of those games will be added to the Stadia Pro subscription, Eurogamer reports.
As of December 1st, Stadia users who pay £8.99 per month for Pro will be able to access Farming Simulator 19 and Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. At present, only two titles are available to subscribers: Samurai Showdown and Destiny 2: The Collection.
Aware that some users will have already paid full price for these titles, Google is pre-emptively offering refunds.
Google community manager Grace Yang wrote in a blog post: "Because of the proximity between the launch of the platform, and the announcement of these titles in Stadia Pro, we're happy to assist you if you'd like to request a refund if you have purchased either of both of these titles, even if it's outside of our normal policy."
It's another stumble in what has already been a less than smooth launch.

Kid-friendly game creation MMO Roblox has brought in over $1 billion in revenue since its 2005 launch, with much of its rapid growth happening over the last two years.
According to Sensor Tower, the game has grossed $435 million so far in 2019 alone, 30% more than its total revenue for all of 2018. It also recently hit a monthly peak of $50 million in revenue in August 2019. For further comparison, Roblox grossed just under $46 million in the full year of 2016.

Valve appears to have had a significant purge of its Steam marketplace, with hundreds of games removed in the last 24 hours.
The removals were first noticed when more than 980 games and soundtracks were added to Steam Tools' list of banned apps. At the time of writing, these were all banned within the last 11 hours, with the most recent removals before that being six days ago.
There appear to be no high-profile titles among them, and many of them have been available for at least three years.
At first, there was speculation about whether this was Valve's efforts to clear the Steam catalogue ahead of the expected (but not confirmed) Autumn sale later this week. However, a company spokesperson gave a different explanation to PC Gamer.
"We recently discovered a handful of partners that were abusing some Steamworks tools," Valve said. "We emailed all the affected partners."
