The latest Borderlands outing has broken multiple records for both the series and the 2K Games publishing label.
Take-Two has announced Borderlands 3 sold 50% more copies in its first five days than Borderlands 2, which makes it the fastest selling 2K title to date.
Further indicating the shift away from retail, the publisher reports that 70% of all copies sold during that time were digital -- the highest percentage downloads have ever taken for a multiplatform title released both physically and digitally by 2K Games.
Sell-in for Borderlands 3 reached more than five million units in the first five days, meaning the franchise has now generated more than $1 billion in net bookings to date. It is only the second 2K franchise to ever achieve this.

Duckman: The Graphic Adventures of a Private Dick is an obscure point and click game based on the TV show of the same name. You control the wise cracking detective Duckman as he attempts to regain his identity after being unceremoniously dumped from his own TV show. The game's release for Windows in 1997 unfortunately coincided with the TV show being cancelled, which limited the distribution of the game.
After a long time in development, the ScummVM team is happy to announce support for the game.
Make sure to grab a recent build and give it a try. Please report any bugs that you find to our issue tracker.
The English, German and Demo versions are supported. You just need the DATA/ directory from the original game to play.

The premium pre-order bundle for Google Stadia, called the Founder's Edition, has apparently sold out in Europe and is on the verge of selling out everywhere else as well.
Speaking to GamesRadar, Google director for games Jack Buser said, "I'm super proud to tell you that the Founders Edition for Stadia has sold out in Europe. We'll be removing the Founders Edition from the Google Store page in EU countries today, but we're going to replace it with a new bundle that we are calling the Premier Edition."
The Founder's Edition, which is still available for purchase in the US at the time this piece was published, costs $129.99 and comes with a three-month subscription to Stadia Pro (normally $9.99/month), a second three-month "Buddy Pass" to give to a friend, a ChromeCast Ultra, and a Night Blue limited-edition Stadia controller. It also allows the buyer to secure their username on Stadia ahead of those who did not purchase the bundle.

The District Court of Paris has issued a ruling saying that French owners of digital games on Steam are permitted to resell them under EU law.
Next Inpact reports (as translated by GamesIndustry.biz sister-site Rock Paper Shotgun) that the court ruled in favor of the French consumer interest group Union fédérale des consommateurs, the Federal Union of Consumers on a number of clauses including the issue of digital resales.
The Federal Union of Consumers has been pursuing Valve for several years now over numerous issues in the Steam Subscriber Agreement. This particular ruling by the French court looks at Valve's claim that consumers do not actually purchase a digital product when they buy a game -- rather, they purchase a subscription to access and use content and services on Steam. The court's ruling classifies these sales as digital licenses rather than subscriptions, thus allowing them to be resold in the same way that physical games have been resellable.
Per the court, the prohibition against digital resales violates EU laws that maintain "the free movement of goods within the Union." All goods sold within the EU must be able to be resold without permission from the person who originally sold them.

We need you! Join the Supernova crew for an unforgettable journey to witness the death of a star.
Have you ever dreamed of becoming an astronaut? Being abandoned on your own on a broken spaceship? Dying asphyxiated? Being electrocuted? Being shot at? Getting lost in a pyramid? Being caught stealing a dinosaur's head and being sent to prison? And if that is not enough you can even disable the improved mode in ScummVM and experience the frustration of clicking and pointing your way through a twenty-five years old computer game.
We are proud to announce that Mission Supernova Teil 1: Das Schicksal des Horst Hummel and Mission Supernova Teil 2: Der Doppelgänger are now both supported in ScummVM. In addition we have also translated both games to English and you can decide to play either in German or English. The games can be downloaded for free on the developer's website, so you have no reason not to play it!
Please help us test the games and report any bugs or translation issue you find on our issue tracker. You will need a recent version of ScummVM and the supernova.dat file (if it is not included in the ScummVM package for your platform). You can also see some basic information on the game controls on our wiki or access the game manual in game using the F2 key.

A long time ago, in 2013, Kamil Zbróg and Łukasz Wątka, a GSoC student, were working on support for the game The Prince and the Coward or Książę i Tchórz, as it was called originally in Polish.
The game engine sat in limbo, however, because we were trying to work on the English translation. Unfortunately, that work is only about ¼th done, and we need your help.
Nevertheless, we would like to announce support for this game. All released versions are supported, including Polish original, German release and the Russian translation. Take your copy of the game and give it a try. You will need a daily development build for that. As always, please submit the bug reports to our issue tracker.
Also, if you happen to know Polish, German, or Russian, you are welcome to help us with the translation. The short instructions are provided here.
Powodzenia!

ROM Properties v1.4.1 is released. ROM Properties is a shell extension adding the ability to display additional information to file managers. ROM Properties is currently available for Linux and Windows. This shell extension adds a few nice features to file browsers for managing video game ROM and disc images.
ROM Properties v1.4.1 Changelog:
New UI frontends: XFCE (GTK+ 3.x), MATE
Transparent gzip decompression support. Primarily used for VGM (VGZ).
ROM images with "dangerous" permissions for Nintendo DS and 3DS now have an overlay icon on KDE. (The Windows implementation was disabled in this release due to unexplained crashes.)
File metadata is now exported to the desktop environment. This includes e.g. dimensions for textures and duration for audio. Currently supported on KDE and Windows.
New parsers:
Audio formats: ADX, BCSTM, BCWAV, BFSTM, BRSTM, BFSTM, GBS, NSF, PSF (and related), SAP, SID, SNDH, SPC, VGM (and VGZ)
Wii: WADs, encrypted Wii save files
Mach-O binaries (Mac executables)
Neo Geo Pocket (Color) ROM images
Xbox: XBE, XEX, disc images, XPR textures, STFS packages
iQue Player content metadata and ticket files
New parser features:
DMG: GBX footer
DirectDrawSurface: BC7 texture compression
GameCube: NASOS image format, CHN and TWN region codes, standalone Wii partitions
NES: Internal footer present in some ROMs.
NintendoDS: "Access Control" is now shown for DSi-enhanced ROMs. DSi flags are shown for NDS ROMs released after the DSi.
SegaPVR: Support for SVR files used on the Sony PlayStation 2.
Other changes:
Removed S2TC decoding. The first version of rom-properties with support for S3TC, v1.2, was released after the S3TC patents expired. Since the patents expired, S3TC can be unconditionally enabled, and we don't need the S2TC decoder or test images anymore.
The Linux UI frontends will no longer initialize if running as root. rpcli will still run as root for now, though it's not recommended.
The XDG MIME database rom-properties.xml is now installed on Linux systems. This provides MIME types for formats not currently present in FreeDesktop.org's shared-mime-info database.

World of Warcraft Classic launched last month not just to crowded servers, but also crowded streams, boosting World of Warcraft viewership on Twitch up by 84%.
StreamElements has shared infographics of the top ten streamers on Twitch last month, as well as the top ten games, both of which show an unmistakable influence from the launch of Classic. World of Warcraft leaped to the fourth-most-watched game on Twitch by watchtime, just under Dota 2 and above the "Just Chatting" category. In total, it saw just under 68 million hours watched in August.
