If you checked into those NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX benchmarks and felt they met with your high standards, now you can actually get one (or a bunch) into your rig. According to reports, the brain-laser of a graphics card can now be had (in various iterations) for the low, low price of $329.99 [£167] (at least from Newegg). And before you ask -- Crysis: Yes. Doom: Yes. Overlords: Welcome. Will blend: Yes. Russia: Benchmarks you.

In an update to the official Age of Conan site, developer Funcom has revealed a couple of new player-versus-player combat modes for the massively multiplayer fantasy game.
The two mini-games provide a fast-paced PVP experience based on standard multiplayer gametypes - Funcom says they are "more akin to an FPS match than traditional MMO combat". Capture the Skull sounds very much like a capture the flag variant, while Team Annihilation is an even more straightforward race to the highest kill count - a team deathmatch mode, basically.
These should provide a welcome counterpoint to the game's widely publicised and highly involved siege warfare system for high-level players.
Check out the Age of Conan gamepage for more coverage of this promising MMO epic. Age of Conan will be released on May 20 on PC, with an Xbox 360 version to follow next year.

New version of the PC-Engine emulator for Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
Changelog:
- Some overall processing speeds were sped up (The optimization option of the development compiler was changed). Especially, processing might have lightened in some measure on the personal computer environment with a not high spec.
- It corresponded to software that had changed the width of each line of the screen display. In Chapter-4 of "Yami no Ketsuzoku", the message came to be displayed correctly.
- Additionally, a detailed part has been improved and corrected.

New update of the Amstrad CPC emulator for DOS, DPMI and Windows.
Changelog:
The past release was made in a hurry and
it lacked features still in development, hence this rerelease. On one
hand, LPTCPC and LPTPC can send and receive extended disc images: many
copy protections work fine; on the other hand, the FDC reading commands
have been improved too ("Arkanoid", "Gremlins 2", Epyx's "World Games",
etc.)

March 30th, 2008, 23:29 Posted By: JKKDARK
The first public release of this front end for PC was released today.
Information:
@ES PUBLIC BETA NOTES - By shadow1204 - Posted by @ruantec
---------------------
This is a public beta release and bugs will be present.
The purpose of this release is to show you what @ES can do
--- System Requirements ---
Although @ES uses very little in the way of resouces it it recommened that your pc meets the following requirements.
@ES will run on XP but for the best results please use Vista
If you are able to run PJ64 at 100% speed you will have no probs running @ES
2ghz cpu Should be sufficent to run @ES without any problems
512MB ram
GPU As long as your gpu is able to run even some games you will be fine with @ES
The point in saying this is mostly that to not expect to run @ES on a computer running a P3 400mhz CPU for example.
(It just won't do the job and seriously don't even try)
Going to the task manager I never see @ES use more the 12% of my "AMD athlon64x2 6000+" cpu or more then 40MB of my
ram so it is certainly not a system hog.
Please just use common sense!!
Any bugs that are found should be reported in the @ES bugs thread on NGForums!!
*link*(comming soon)
Known bugs or features that will be fixed as quickly as possible and don't require reporting include:
----------
1/ Any scroller bugs in the coverflow menu's (will be fixed in the next two days)
2/ Some emu's will switch to fullscreen when you press ALT + ENTER but will have problems
when pressing ALT + ENTER to return to the @ES screen. (Proper full-screen support will be
included very soon)
3/ You are unable to play a video and listen to music or play a game at the same time!
This is not really a bug but I am mentioning it here anyway
(The only thing possible of this nature is music and games at the same time)
4/ At present there is no way to delete items after you add them to the coverflow menu
The only way to do this at present is to go to the playlist file for the type of item
you are wanting to delete and remove the path to it from the list
Also some things do nothing yet!
Such as the cd/dvd icon, settings and update icons on the main menu!
-----------------------
in a side note i would like to thank all the beta-testers that helped me to test this small app! you guys rock!
VERY IMPORTANT!!
Read the readme file included!
Thank you for reading and enjoy using @ES

Sounds like we've finally got a price and a date for the XP powered Eee PC: $400, and April 9th. The hardware's identical to current-gen Eee PCs, though, so if you're happy with your little white lappy and are itching for XP you might try to pick up a license on eBay. Still, if all goes well for ASUS, they'll be selling 4x what they did the first time around, innit?
P.S. -If you are, for whatever reason, itching to read more about current hardware running the 7 year old OS, Laptop's got a hands-on. Nothing that wasn't already out there though.

description
March, 2047. A massive nuclear fireball explodes high in the night sky, marking the dramatic beginning to the Third Tiberium War and long-awaited return of the most groundbreaking Real-time Strategy franchise (RTS) of all time.
The critically-acclaimed Command & Conquer™ (C&C) series returns with Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars™ (C&C 3). Setting the standard for the future of RTS gaming once more, C&C 3 takes you back to where it all began—the Tiberium Universe.
In 2047, Tiberium has blanketed the Earth, which is now divided into zones based on the level of Tiberium infestation. Pristine Blue Zones represent 20% of the planet's surface and are the last refuge of the civilized world. Partially habitable Yellow Zones make up 50% of the planet's surface; most of the world's population lives in these war-torn and ecologically ravaged areas. The remaining 30% of the planet is uninhabitable, a Tiberium wasteland swept by violent Ion Storms. Red Zones are like the surface of an Alien planet.
The infamous Kane has returned to lead the Brotherhood of Nod in a massive global assault on the Global Defense Initiative and the few remaining Blue zones left on the planet. Only you can stop him. The fate of humanity – and the planet – is in your hands.
Featuring state-of-the-art, next-generation graphics, an epic story with live action, full-motion video sequences, and the classic fast-paced C&C style of play, C&C 3 sets the standard for the single player RTS experience.
When you decide to test your skills online, a suite of truly innovative features, such as the ability to transform online battles into a spectator sport, unfold.
Welcome back, Commander.

A month ago, everyone wanted to vilify Intel for pressuring Microsoft into approving the crippled "Vista Capable" label for certain low-grade PCs. But new evidence suggests A) that Best Buy was instrumental in approving the sinister two-tiered Vista approach very early on and B) that all of this hare-brained scheming seems to have originated at Microsoft itself.
According to CRN ChannelWeb, Vista marketing director Rajesh Srinivasan and others devised the now infamous two-tiered Vista Ready/Vista Capable plan— the latter category known to be incapable of handling the nice Vista Aero visual interface because of paltry Intel integrated graphics support—in the summer of 2005. Srinivasan pitched the idea to Best Buy as early as August 2005, and Best Buy was apparently gung-ho on it.
It was clear, at least to Srinivasan, that Best Buy liked the fact that "100% of PCs" would be associated with Vista, thanks to the creation of a "Vista Capable" category.
Here's where it gets funny, though. Originally, Srinivasan recommended that Vista Ready PCs got a logo, while Vista Capable PCs did not. Somewhere along the line, though, this changed and colorful Vista-friendly labels were stuck on both the geniune and crippled systems. (The article doesn't stipulate who pushed whom on this particular matter.)
As for hapless Intel, its involvement appears to have begun six months later, when Intel is said to have been happy that Microsoft dropped the ban on lower-end Aero-incapable chipsets like the 915. Better still, Srinivasan at one point suggested in an e-mail that Microsoft "put pressure on Intel to end of life by 915 by Oct 06," so it's very hard to call Intel the bully.
After looking at lots of evidence, CRN draws the most intelligent conclusion: "At the end of the day, Microsoft may have botched Vista Capable all by itself." I'll drink to that.

The USB HDD Dock we saw a few months ago just got a USB hub upgrade. Not only does it still take 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA drives in the top like a Famicom cartridge, there's an added 4-port USB hub on the front. Because if you're going to take up one of your machine's precious USB ports for something, it's even better when that something gives you 3 extra ports in return.

Digital Mindsoft has released five new screens from Men of War, a a sequel of sorts to Soldiers: Heroes of World War II.
According to our PC man Stuart Bishop, Soldiers was surprisingly good, considering it was set in the world of lazy games designers, aka The Second World War.
Unfortunately, there's nothing in these screenshots that makes us believe he's right, but RTS games are notoriously tricky to make appealing through static images. Even Starcraft 2 looks a bit naff in some of the shots we've seen.
No word on a release date, yet.
