Looking for a new field to conquer in World of Warcraft? Tired of dominating Warsong Gulch or Alterac Valley? Blizzard is hard at work coming up with a brand new challenge for players looking to fight for the Horde and the Alliance once more. On the WoW Community Site, a recent update was posted listing the Isle of Conquest, a brand new PvP arena that will be included in the upcoming Call of the Crusade content patch that will take over a new area just off the shores of Northrend and promises to deliver battles of up to 80 players per match.
The premise behind the Isle of Conquest is pretty simple: an Alliance and Horde General have been fighting each other for control of the island and its vast resources. The side that manages to eliminate the enemy general first wins. There are a number of key locations that you'll be able to capture to gain specific advantages for your side. The oil derrick and cobalt mine provides reinforcements as well as honor to the side that holds it, while the docks provides two new siege weapons called the Glaive Thrower and the Catapult. The airship hangar allows players to bomb enemies from above or parachute teams into enemy keeps, while the siege workshop gives you large numbers of siege vehicles to destroy enemy walls. Connected to all of these locations are graveyards.
Similar to Alterac Valley, Isle of Conquest uses a reinforcement system. Killing an enemy player reduces reinforcements, and if you manage to reduce your enemy to a specific limit, the match is over. Similarly, if the general for your side happens to be killed as the walls of his keep are destroyed, the match will end as well.
