EA announces major facelift surgery for MMO daddy with Kingdom Reborn upgrade
Ultima Online is so old that it even makes us look young, yet it still continues to go strong - and EA has now announced that it will be treating the MMORPG godfather to a full face-lift with what we're labelling the 'extended expansion pack' Ultima Online: Kingdom Reborn.
Set to release in 2007, the pack will do much more than simply deliver new missions and content to the nine-year-old-game, as it's giving it a brand new graphics engine and a brand new 'state-of-the-art' interface too. The former is said to maintain the game's original perspective, while also dipping into the world of 3D-accelerated special effects. EA Mythic will find itself busy re-drawing more than 9000 pieces of art!
In addition to the ironed-out wrinkles, Kingdom Reborn will also include a new playable race, enhanced features of previous editions, plus a heap of other new content yet to be announced. Crikey, it's just like going home to find your 92-year-old granddad playing football in the garden.
