THQ has told Eurogamer that the next chapter in the Supreme Commander series is scheduled for release in November on Windows-based PCs.
Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance will be a standalone title that's nevertheless compatible with the original, allowing for new strategic options in both.
The new game follows the epic story of the Infinite War, introducing a brand new single-player campaign, a new faction and new multiplayer features.
It also introduces over 100 new units, allowing for fully realised navies, orbital weaponry and advanced counter-intelligence technologies.
"Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is not only the continuation of the epic story that is unfolding inside the game's universe, it is the continuation of our goal to move the bar for RTS gaming even higher than ever," says Chris Taylor, CEO of Gas Powered Games, who continues at the helm of the series' development.
"Forged Alliance offers over 100 new units, more maps and an entirely new faction... we are stuffing this game with all kinds of new features!"
The original Supreme Commander, released earlier this year, came remarkably close to winning top marks, eventually settling for a grand 9/10 and having to put up with being labelled "a triumphant achievement" and "a love letter to the fans". Bet they were gutted!
