THQ today shed some more light on Dark Crusade, the next expansion to its 2004 PC real-time strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. In addition to the new subtitle, the publisher announced the second new race for the game. Joining the technologically minded Tau in the grim darkness of the future will be the soulless Necrons, an army of undead warriors hungry for the living after a 60-million-year slumber.
In addition to a pair of new races (bringing the game's total to seven playable factions), developer Relic Entertainment is including a new single-player campaign in the game that will challenge players to take command of the race of their choice and exterminate all opposing forces. THQ is also promising to expand the multiplayer gameplay, though it didn't give specifics on how.
Dark Crusade is currently slated for a fall release, and THQ has indicated that the game will be at its Electronic Entertainment Expo booth next week.
