EA’s The Sims 3 has delivered on the months of hype leading up to last Friday’s release by debuting at the top of the ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack UK All Formats Top 40.
The Sims 3’s opening weekend was so successful that it now becomes the fourth fastest selling PC game of all time in the UK, lagging behind only World of Warcarft’s duo of expansion packs and Eidos’ Championship Manager 4.
The achievement becomes all the more impressive when the high level of piracy suffered by the game is taken into account.
Whether the excessive number of illegitimate downloads will dent the game’s ongoing chart achievements is yet to be seen.
