Microsoft has announced it will launch its Surface Pro tablet in the UK next month, along with 18 additional countries, and five more in June.
Within a post on the firm's official Surface blog, Microsoft confirmed the Surface Pro will launch in the UK in May, along with Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Meanwhile, the device will hit Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore and Thailand in June, making the Surface Pro a global product.
Whilst the entry-level Surface RT device – which runs Microsoft's scaled down version of Windows – is already on sale within the UK, the Surface Pro offers the full version of Windows 8, along with improved system specs.
Currently, the Surface Pro is only available in the US, Canada and China, but Microsoft is hoping to generate additional demand for the device by launching it within a further 24 countries.
Demand for the Surface Pro has been high, and Microsoft has on occasion struggled to meet the strong demand for the 128GB Surface with the firm's online store running out of stock.
However, Microsoft will be hoping that the strong demand experienced for the Surface Pro in existing markets will translate to the UK and these newly announced countries.
