Samsung rumoured to be launching Surface competitor

The world's largest phone maker is reportedly planning to release its own Windows RT tablets in October, which would have it directly rival Microsoft's new Surface tablet.
Bloomberg first reported the rumour stating the new devices will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon ARM chip instead of the company's own Exynos ARM chip.
A source who asked to remain unidentified told the news site that Samusung has made a handheld computer built on Windows RT - the first version of Windows available on ARM technology - and is scheduled for release in October.
Windows RT is Microsoft's first mainstream operating system built for touch-screen devices and works on chips typically featured within smartphones, whilst traditional desktop PCs are powered by x86 processors.
Hewlett-Packard delivered a blow to Microsoft last week when it announced it would not be initially supporting Windows RT and would instead opt to introduce a Windows 8 based tablet, which only functions on x86 processors which are produced by Intel and AMD.
Samsung's decision to support Windows RT will bolster Microsoft's effort to challenge Apple who still remain the dominant force within the tablet PC market with the success of the iPad.
At the end of the first quarter, Apple led the market with a 58 per cent share and a total of 11.8 million units shipped, whilst Samsung trailed second with 11 per cent and Amazon third with 5.8 per cent.
