THQ has announced that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II will be released a week earlier than expected in the US on 19th February.
Alas, however, THQ UK told Eurogamer this morning that our release date stands firm as 20th February, so we're not first any more. Oh well!
With the game a month away from release, inevitably it's also been confirmed finished, which prompted an avalanche of excitable executive quotes. Well, two, of which one is developer Relic's general manager Tarrnie Williams, who said the game "stays true to the fast-paced, brutal heart of the Dawn of War series, while introducing branching single-player storylines and unique unit customisation".
That's not too hard to believe, as you will know if you picked up on the game's star billing in out Coming Attractions: Fighting & Strategy feature last week, where we hoped out loud that new approaches in single-player and multiplayer would satisfy a broader audience as well as looking mega-snazzy.
THQ also plans to begin a multiplayer open beta on 28th February following an exclusivity period for owners of Dawn of War expansion Soulstorm, which starts tomorrow.
We'll also have some exciting news for Dawn of War II fans tomorrow ourselves, so stick around if you fancy getting closer to Relic's latest take on the Warhammer universe.
