On Saturday, June 27th, children's TV station Nickelodeon broadcast its Addicting Games Showdown awards ceremony, which recognised the best output of the casual games industry.
Snubbyland and Armor Games' Worlds Hardest Game took the overall prize, titled the Most AddictingGame gong.
The awards, which were broadcast interstitially between shows on Nickelodeon, were divided into categories, each with irreverent titles that parodied many of the conventions of casual gaming.
Best Performance by a Monkey went to Ninja Kiwi's Bloons and Most Courageous Stick Figure Stunt was given to DX Interactive's Electric Man 2, while Afro-Ninja Productions took the Greatest Escape Game accolade with Escape the Car. Tattoo Artist by Gamepill received the Best Game from Planet Random award, and Let's Get Cookin' by the The Article 19 Group won in the Your Mom's Favourite Game category.
Other games that went home having beaten off competition in various categories included Alejandro Guillen's Magic Pen, JackSmack's Build a Robot 3, Shockwave's Redline Rumble and Odd1's Baseball Juiced.
"Congratulations to the winning games and the developers who created them. We applaud the innovation and creativity of everyone involved in creating such phenomenal online games," said Dave Williams, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Nickelodeon Kids and Family Games Group. "The AddictingGames Showdown' was born from our knowledge that our audiences are experiencing their entertainment on multiple platforms, so we combined their biggest online activity-gaming-with TV."
