Mojang's indie sandbox game Minecraft has passed four million sales.
The news was revealed in a tweet by studio head Markus "Notch" Persson, and has since been confirmed on the game's official website. Minecraft passed the three million mark in August, by which point we estimated it had grossed somewhere around £35 million. At a current cost of €14.95, Mojang has now made around £48 million from a game first released for free in an alpha state, that is still in beta.
The game will finally exit beta at the sold-out Minecon event in Las Vegas next week.
