26-year-old Twitch streamer MrDeathMoth (real name Luke James Munday), having recently been caught while streaming Fortnite allegedly assaulting his 21-year-old pregnant partner, has appeared in Australian court on charges of Common Assault.
Pictured above at the time of the incident, after this various noises can be heard along with his partner exclaiming "Don’t hit me in the face".
He was previously convicted of a different violent offence 7 years ago (not domestic related), and prosecution believes they have a strong case thanks to the "numerous independent witnesses to the offence as a portion of the incident was livestreamed”.
The case has been adjourned to January 10th to give time for the defendant to get legal advice.
While initially widely reported online that both him and his partner had been arrested, there is no confirmation of this and it looks unlikely at this time. Two girls aged three and 20 months were home at the time of the livestream.
What do you think? Not much is actually known about this case other than the accused having a previous violent history, and only audio was captured of the alleged assault. As streaming becomes more mainstream, cases like these will inevitably continue - hopefully without silly accusations like 'he was playing a violent videogame' as I saw one headline read...
