PC MMORPG Aion is currently in development at NCSoft, which is employing a modified version of Crytek's original Far Cry engine (CryEngine) to power the online fantasy romp. New screenshots released reveal how the techonology is being put to use.
Set on the word of Aion, the game revolves around three around warring factions, two of which are populated by players while a third is a server-controlled NPC faction which can become an enemy or ally of the player-formed groups. Combat is being described as Player vs. Player vs. Environment, and the game's designed so that actions committed by factions will eventually trigger consequences which affect the live environment on game servers.
