Fable II tops US monthly chart

Fable II has proven to be the most popular videogame in America throughout October.

The Xbox 360-exclusive role-playing title sold 790,000 copies during the month, according to new NPD data on GamesIndustry.biz.

Familiar charter Wii Fit took second with 487,000 sales, followed by another RPG hopeful Fallout 3 with 375,000 copies sold.

Mario Kart Wii and Wii Play were fourth and fifth respectively, with the 360 edition of Saints Row 2 in sixth.

SOCOM: Confrontation and LittleBigPlanet took seventh and eighth, while NBA 2K9 and Dead Space rounded out the top 10.

The top 10 US games for October are:

Fable II (360): 790,000

Wii Fit (Wii): 487,000

Fallout 3 (360): 375,000

Mario Kart Wii (Wii): 290,000

Wii Play (Wii): 282,000

Saints Row 2 (360): 270,000

SOCOM: Confrontation (PS3): 231,000
