Total War series is one of the best real time strategy games around and now Sega announces one more game in that franchise! Empire: Total War is set in the 18th century and will have leading 3D battles, grand turn based campaign map and rich historical flavor. For the first time in the Total War series, 3D naval combat has been introduced.
Empire: Total War will let gamers to instinctively command vast fleets or single ships upon seascapes rich with extraordinary water and weather effects that play a huge role in the eventual celebrated success or ignominious defeat. Also, gamers will be able to strike their enemies with cannon fire, close in to snatch their ship and set up to board taking control of their men as they fight hand to hand on the decks.
Empire: Total War will have improved battles and turn based campaign map. Real time battles will pose new challenges with the addition of cannon and musket. It will confront gamers to master new formations and strategies as a result of the increasing role of gunpowder within warfare. As for the Campaign Map, it will feature new enhanced systems for Trade, Diplomacy and Espionage with agents, an advanced and streamlined UI, improved Advisors and comprehensive scope taking in the riches of India, the turmoil of Europe and the unexploited potential of North America.
Mike Simpson is the Studio Director at The Creative Assembly and the father of the Total War franchise. He said, “Empire: Total War is a huge revolutionary step for the series. We are delighted to introduce true 3D naval combat, something that adds a totally new dimension to Total War games. We are genuinely eager about what we’re achieving with the naval battles and also by the scale of the improvements being made to the core of the game, the land battles and the campaign. This will certainly be the biggest and best Total War game we have ever made.”
Empire: Total War is being developed at The Creative Assembly’s Horsham studio. In fact, the game is being developed for over a year now. Empire: Total War will release for the PC in 2008.
