EA has announced that its Medal of Honor franchise has been taken "out of rotation" after disappointing sales. Medal of Honor made its return to gamers' screens in 2011 after a three-year hiatus but struggled both critically and commercially.
Last year's Warfighter outing failed to fare any better and as a result the publisher has decided to drop the franchise.
Instead, EA will focus primarily on its highly-acclaimedBattlefield franchise, which will now have its development boosted in order to become an annual series, adding further fire to the rivalry between the franchise and its closest rival, Activision's Call of Duty.
