Dungeon Runners opens doors

NCsoft's MMO Dungeon Runners has opened its doors to players around the world today, and is free to download and play.

However, if you want to explore more than the trial content you'll have to become a "member" and shell out USD 4.99 a month to do so. But if you do, you'll enjoy the full range of content, as well as log-in queue priority and access to the best items, weapons, and armour.

Dungeon Runners is based around instanced, er, dungeons, which you'll be able to explore on your own or in a party - the latter being the preferred choice. You get to play as either a Fighter, Mage, or Ranger, and advance your powers through a big list of skills that ensure no two people are the same.

It doesn't have the same size or scope as something like Lord of the Rings Online or World of Warcraft, but it's also not supposed to. It's based around fast-paced instanced fun with friends; good old dungeon-plundering for shiny loot.

"Dungeon Runners is a lot of fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously. It will take players into an action packed-adventure, where they blaze through a maze of dungeons, face fierce monsters and formidable opponents to become a hero," said Stephen Nichols, producer and lead programmer for Dungeon Runners.

"Regardless of if a player pays to be a member or plays for free, Dungeon Runners will deliver more than 200 hours of game play and a continually growing number of missions and quests. It's also designed to appeal to gamers who have limited time to give to a game, although it will also have the content to keep players adventuring for hours at a time."
