Disney has dispatched beta invites for its upcoming free-to-play space shooter Star Wars: Attack Squadrons.
The beta test will run until January 28 and require at least Windows 7 or Mac OS X 10.6 with 4GB RAM, Venture Beat reports. Attack Squadrons is in development at new Seattle-based studio Area 52 Games and allows for 16-player dogfights and the ability to customise "iconic Star Wars ships" including Tie-Fighters and X-Wings.
The game will also feature team-based and base defence type modes, as well as various unlockable rewards.
Interested parties can sign up for the beta test via the game's website, though it appears to be restricted to North American residents.
The Attack Squadron name was first spotted publicly in July when parent company Disney registered about four dozen domain names.
Following the agreement of a multi-year deal between EA and Disney , Battlefield maker DICE, Visceral Games and BioWare are set to develop Star Wars games.
