Blizzard mulls over digital distribution for WoW expansion
World of Warcraft fans may be able to get their hands on forthcoming expansion The Burning Crusade without having to step out the front door.
In an interview with CVG, Blizzard's Senior VP of Product Development, Frank Pearce, revealed that the developer is pondering releasing the hotly anticipated add-on via digital distribution, saying it's "something we're talking about".
Although nothing's set in stone, the availability of the original WoW client via digital distribution in North America (also under consideration for Europe) suggests that Blizzard will follow this route with The Burning Crusade - although Pearce explained that relationships with traditional retail are "really important" to the developer.
We can but wait and see what it decides.
But what's your own opinion on The Burning Crusade being made available via digital distribution? Would you opt to buy the expansion that way, or would you rather purchase a nice shiny boxed copy from your local games emporium? Shout your thoughts in the comment field below.
