DayZ has fallen victim of a potentially significant hack. Reddit reports began to emerge recently that the game had actually had its entire source code stolen. Speaking to Rock Paper Shotgun publisher Bohemia has not commented on that particular claim, but has confirmed that an incident has taken place.
It also stressed that no user data was compromised.
“We have recently detected an attack on some of our servers, the precise nature and scope of this attack is currently being extensively investigated,” a report read. “There were no user data on any of the servers. Current development goals and schedules for our games will not be affected by this attack.
“More information will follow as our investigation continues.”
Aside from the moral and legal implications, any theft of source code would also open the door to the development of crippling hacks and bugs.
