QVS International announced this week that it will be distributing Aion: The Tower of Eternity in Australia this September. Aion is a massively multiplayer online role playing game developed by NCsoft, and since its launch in Asia in March, has built up 3.5 million subscribers. The game apparently has 1,500 story-driven quests, with players fighting in an "epic celestial war", with a choice between two divine factions: the Asmodians and the Elyos.
In terms of differentiation, the press release tells us that avatar customisation is hugely powerful, that flying is a strategic and integral part of the experience, allowing players to "take to the skies early on and take part in combat, quests, exploration and harvesting," and that "flight changes the battlefield in Aion with players able to experience revolutionary combat in the hotly contested area of the Abyss, between the upper and lower halves of Atreia. Gamers also fight against the Balaur, an ancient race freed from imprisonment within the Abyss, for control of valuable strongholds and artefacts."
Paul Elliot, Managing Director at QVS International stated, "Aion has already achieved massive success within the Asian online gaming community and we are really excited to be bringing this game to the Australian market. Additionally, we are extremely confident that gamers who seek and appreciate quality online gaming experiences will embrace Aion this September."
IGN has already looked quite extensively at Aion, so check out our coverage. Oh, and QVS has an official site too.
