AMD has unveiled its latest line of A-Series desktop processors with the addition of the budget-friendly A8-7670K APU.
During a press call, the firm revealed that the APU has been designed to work alongside Windows 10, and can also provide users with eSports gaming and mainstream workloads.
Priced at $117.99 (£76) the APU is powered by 10 compute cores, including four CPUs running at up to 3.9GHz and six GPUs that can run up to 757MHz.
The APU combines the processing power of AMD’s CPU with the pixel power of AMD Radeon graphics.
Kevin Lensing, senior director of the Client Business Unit at AMD, said: “AMD takes great strides to deliver innovative technology that provides the performance and convenience customers need today and tomorrow.
“The AMD A8-7670K APU is no exception. Our newest APU provides a smooth user experience and is engineered for Windows 10 and eSports online gaming.”
AMD’s new APU can also provide smooth video playback of movies and TV, as well as boost performance of the Microsoft Edge browser, with full graphics acceleration for HTML5 and WebGL.
Users can also play games in 1080p with AMD’s integrated Radeon R7 graphics, plus, it also comes with support for DirectX 12, Vulkan and Mantle.
Zack Shutt, VP of PC vendor Xidax, added: “The new addition of the AMD A8-7670K APU allows us to deliver more options for discerning mainstream PC buyers.
“AMD’s latest driver and feature support allow incredible new entry points for impressive gaming technologies such as FreeSync and Virtual Super Resolution.”
This news comes after AMD revealed its sixth generation A-Series processor for notebooks. Check out our interview with AMD's UK consumer country manager about the notebook APU here.
