AMD has released ‘the world's fastest and most powerful graphics card’, the AMD Radeon R9 295X2.
The card combines two of AMD’s Radeon R9 Series GPUs in a single card, and is designed to play games at maximum settings in 4K resolution.
"AMD is thrilled to launch the AMD Radeon R9 295X2 graphics card, built on the same award-winning Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture that powers the gaming industry," said Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager, graphics business unit, AMD.
"This record-shattering dual-GPU card will enable industry-leading audio and visually stunning 4K gaming, proving once again that Radeon is gaming."
The 295X2 includes what AMD claims to be the industry’s first-ever advanced closed-loop, pre-assembled and maintenance-free liquid cooling system in a graphics card, developed in collaboration with Asetek.
"Asetek is proud to collaborate with AMD to provide an outstanding cooling solution for a truly cutting-edge and groundbreaking graphics card," said Andre Eriksen, CEO and founder of Asetek.
"With our custom fitted liquid cooling technology, the AMD Radeon R9 295X2 graphics card delivers quiet powerful performance."
The 295X2 is built on AMD’s Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture, and as such supports AMD’s Mantle API. The firm’s TrueAudio and Eyefinity technologies are also supported.
The AMD Radeon R9 295X2 graphics card will be available later this month with a starting price of €1099 (£907) (excluding VAT).
The card is likely to face off against AMD rival Nvidia’s recently announced powerhouse graphics card.
The $3,000 (£1,800) GeForce GTX Titan Z is similarly built around two GPUs – based on Nvidia’s Kepler design – and has a total of 5,760 processing cores.
In comparison, the 295X2 has 5,632 stream processors, plus 8GB of GDDR5 memory. See the full specs list below, or check out AMD’s blog for more details.
